I made the mistake of going early to a UFC event once. I thought it would be fun and exciting. I got there for the second match in the prelims, and it was actually pretty good (ironically from a pro wrestling standpoint, from an MMA one I'm guessing i'd be terrible. the guy took over 100 shots to the head and was bleeding everywhere but had the entire crowd behind him like an underdog babyface.. He obviously lost though). That's where it ended. For the five hours I was in that hot shithole arena, every single match went to completion bar one bout that had a knockout in the second round. No blood. Literal minimal offense. The one womens bout on the card literally had only two strikes landed, and they spent all three rounds with one in the center and the other hopping around her in a circle. The crowd booed them both. The crowd booed every single match including the super special "main event".

Maybe some people have a better eye for the sport, maybe I just got unlucky with the lineup for the night, but I'd rather go watch a fake movie about MMA than ever go back to a show.

Sadly this. UFC is no better right now. They've absolutely gone down the tubes. Gladiator-era intro was GOAT.

This is the first PPV in a few years I'm dropping the $60 on getting. Huge Nakamura fan so want to see him watch the belt. If he wins I'll keep ordering PPVs for any of his title defenses too. Otherwise this will be it.
