Bet Bob Sapp has bigger bank account.
>>
>>2998416
He drew dimes wherever he wrestled, had a long and illustrious career, his style of wrestling is imitated even to this day, owns his own Rib Shack in Japan that is a sort of mecca for pro wrestlers to visit.

Please reply when you can do any of this.
>>
>>2998298

There's several in ring black performers but in terms of success I don't think there's ever been one.

Ernie Ladd and Bobo Brazil might have been bigger draws but neither was as successful.

Booker is still the most accomplished all around Black in wrestling.

Sapp captured the imagination of Japan's huge fighting sports industry. He was huge in a way that nothing has been in contemporary America since perhaps the peak of Michael Jackson. Between December 2002 & January 2003, Sapp was asked to appear on more than 200 shows & was offered starring roles in more than 30 TV commercials. He had to squeeze in training between television & promotional appearances. His name & likeness appeared on every product imaginable. There was a store in Japan that sold nothing but Bob Sapp merchandise & he even released a CD called "Sapp Time" in March 2003. Now finding work as a pro wrester wasn't so hard.

In just over one year he's had real fights for K-1 & PRIDE, & worked pro-style matches for WRESTLE-1 & NJPW. The Japanese press voted Bob Sapp as pro wrestling's MVP in December 2002. It's hard to tell which is the more remarkable fact: that he was the first gaijin (foreigner) to win the award in 29 years or that he won the award with only two matches under his belt. Sapp was voted the "best box office draw" by Dave Meltzer's Wrestling Observer in 2002 & 2003. He was also voted the "most charismatic" by the same publication in 2003 & won NJPW's IWGP Heavyweight Championship in 2004.

Bob Sapp vs. Akebono - the kickboxing battle of the giants - drew 54 million television viewers on December 31, 2003. It was the biggest for a fight in Japan since Muhammad Ali vs. Antonio Inoki - boxer vs. wrestler match - on June 26, 1976. Sapp dominated, scoring a knockout at 2:58 of the first round.

Bob Sapp TURNED down $1 million guaranteed per year contact from WWE in 2006/2007 because he was making MUCH more in Japan.
