Did they kill wrestling?
>>
No. WWE did.
>>
>>2963945

cm punk and dana white did, punk getting btfo exposed wwe and made them look terrible
>>
>>2963945
No and yes. No because ufc isn't a weekly thing and wwe is a dying sport because it's fake and the mandrama has been extremely bad for the past 10 or so years. Yes because UFC is the cool thing to watch now like how the AE was awesome with so many characters plus WCW was doing their own shit too.
>>
>>2963945
No. Wrestling just naturally died, we are moving on as a civilization. I'm surprised WWE lasted as long as it did, when WCW died I gave WWE 5 years tops, they managed to stay alive for an extra 15 some odd years.
>>
UFC is on a downward slope as well, just a much more gradual one. It's nowhere near as hot as it was seven years ago and people will keep leaving because of shit pay, which they now can't afford to improve because of the massive loan they need to pay off.
>>
>>2963945

No ya goon
>>
>>2963945
no, cena did. he's the entire reason they went pg
>>
>>2963945
They might have siphoned some parts of the wrestling fans away, that would otherwise still watch the WWE, I guess.
>>
>>2963998
>It's nowhere near as hot as it was seven years ago
Didn't they do their biggest PPV buyrates last year though?
>>
>>2964003
I hate Cena and he's a huge reason why the WWE has been trash for so long but they went PG because of the Benoit case and Linda politics. Cena's character was more over in tv-14.
>>
>>2963945
Yes, very much so. They were 25% of the problem:

25% - UFC / "legit" fighting sports
25% - Monday night wars. 4 years of hotshotting and exposing the business killed it.
25% - high pay in pro sports. Never even considered this a factor until this week's Cornette experience where he explains NFL players would go pro wrestling because they could earn MORE than in football. Nowadays, wrestling can't compete for salaries, so these pre-made draws do not ever appear on wrestling any more. But imagine if WWE could book a UFC fighter against an NFL star versus a weightlifter, etc. DRAW.
25% - Inability of the current generation. They're manufactured wrestlers, didn't learn it on the road, so they are filled with self-doubt and inability to improvise when things go outside of their pre-programmed training and conditioning. The shows are just much lower quality and much more like a circus than a sport.
>>
MMA may have hurt the wrestling business in the 2000s but MMA has cooled down a lot in the 2010s whereas wrestling altogether (not just WWE) seems to be making another comeback.
>>
>>2963945
wrestling killed wrestling
>>
UFC started picking up steam in the mid 2000's and totally stole wwe's young teen boy audience.
UFC has also hurt boxings popularity although boxing has done a lot of self inflicted damage to itself.

I was alive for the tail end of the attitude era, and it felt more culturally popular than it does today. Like you would be watching boy meets world and mick foley would show up out of nowhere to guest star.
>>
>>2963945
It killed the idea of the invinciblle black belt kung fu Ninja Master, using chi and exotic dance moves and gentle motions, and hippie babble feng shui talk, to be invincible in a fight.

It also brought attention to Catch Wrestling, the non choreographed, martial art, of bad assery. from which pro wrestling gets it's moves from, boss.
>>
>>2964016

Thanks to Conor and Ronda, who are both basically gone at the moment. Jon Jones coming back is a huge deal for them at least.
>>
>>2963945

biggest UFC event is a gimmick match between their biggest star and a hood rich boxer that everyone hates. not exactly killing it right now
>>
>>2963945

Nah.

UFC has never come close to WWE popularity. For years, boxing fans and MMA fans argued that the UFC was or wasn't going to kill boxing. It didn't. It won't. Once that argument went nowhere, it's now UFC vs WWE.

Truth be told, MMA has so many douchebag fans that I don't even bother with it anymore. I remember 9 in 99 and 37.5. Now it's a bunch of faggots at sports bars yelling "PASS HIS GUARD" and trying to sound knowledgeable or familiar with it. Plus it's rigged as shit.
>>
>>2963945
UFC is having their worst year yet. They do good job killing themselves.
>>
>>2963945
>their biggest draw is a wwe star
yeah killed
>>
>>2964083
>It killed the idea of the invinciblle black belt kung fu Ninja Master, using chi and exotic dance moves and gentle motions, and hippie babble feng shui talk, to be invincible in a fight.
Kind of a shame this is entirely a myth. I presume the idea that skill > size comes from people naturally wanting to believe that every is equal and capable, when in reality a short-skinny monk who's studied Kung Fu for 30 years would get his ass kicked by an amateur boxer.
>>
Nah. UFC really isn't as successful as a lot of people seem to think. Lack of competition and senile old men killed the WWE.
>>
>>2964573
You're talking about Mayweather vs. McGregor?

That's not a UFC event.
>>
>>2964631
>Nah. UFC really isn't as successful as a lot of people seem to think.

Oh since you said it, that must be true. Where's the evidence?
>>
>>2963945
Wrestling killed itself. MMA just filled in the gap between that and the decay of boxing.
>>
>>2964597
>UFC has never come close to WWE popularity.

Good post, definitely not wrong.
>>
>>2964597
>I watch men play fight in their underwear therefore all sports must be fake XD XD

No, I don't like watching softcore gay porn, I still prefer wrestling
>>

The sooner you realize that professional sports are rigged and Vegas controls all, the less ridiculous you sound.

The UFC rigs a number of ways but the most egregious is getting established names to lose to up and comers. Shamrock putting Franklin over is the most obvious and well known example. Others include Liddell putting over Rashad Evans. Gonzaga got a 4 fight deal after losing to Randy and paving the way for the heavyweight divisions return to prominence.

UFC has a product to sell. It's in their interests to create seemingly unstoppable competitors. Ever wonder why no UFC champion has retired with the belt?
>>
>>2964100
GSP is coming back in November, so all that Canadian money is gonna come back.
>>
>>2968392
>Ever wonder why no UFC champion has retired with the belt?

lol fucking idiot
>>
>>2964618
>WWE's only draw is a UFC bum

Yup, killed.
>>
>>2968392
>Ever wonder why no UFC champion has retired with the belt?

St-Pierre, the biggest UFC draw, quit whilst being champion
>>
>>2965019

exactly my point
>>
UFC is in decline. It's never been a sport. It's just glorified prison rape scenarios.

UFC is really, really, really, really, really, really gay. I'm talking hard gay. Serious Castro Street faggotry
>>
>>2968527

He didn't. He vacated after announcing his intention to take a break. His first fight back is in November.
>>
>ufc and wwe are competiting against each other
Seriously, where the fuck did this retardation come from?
>>
>>2964083
>It killed the idea of the invinciblle black belt kung fu Ninja Master, using chi and exotic dance moves and gentle motions, and hippie babble feng shui talk, to be invincible in a fight.
This is the single greatest thing the UFC destroyed. Shit fucking sucks. A lot of magic went out of the world with UFC 1.
>>
>>2964016

UFC 200
>>
>>2968392

>Liddell put Rashad over

You are the dumbest person I met all week and thats saying something.
