i think /asp/ died once the wrastling culture took a stranglehold on the actual alternative sports. eventually the old posters grew tired of the constant bleed of wrastlefans and most left, and the few that remain stay in their generals and don't even look at the rest of the board. things have died down a lot but it's still to rare for anything new to come around except for wrastling. it's too late that change all that however, and i doubt we will ever get any actual mods.

I'm not mad at the wrasslefags for posting here but I seriously miss the /asp/ of 2013-2014. It was a fairly entertaining board for martial arts and while I didn't give a fuck about the other alt sports they seemed to have healthy threads, we didn't drown them out.

It would have maybe helped if the wrestle threads were consolidated a bit but at this point I don't know if that would bring the old posters back or the somewhat anemic board culture we managed to scrap together.

Ah well, I guess there's bullshido, it's just not for me.

Wrestling posters post more frequently (and at a generally lower quality) than posters of any other /asp/ interest. Keeping wrestling posters here means moderating them down to a few fast moving threads so the rest of the slow-moving board can proliferate. That means an intensity of moderation which is more intence than the movement of most of the board. It won't happen.

Only solution is to move them to a higher frequency board or give them their own board. Probably the latter, as the moderation here is unfeasible whether you move them or not, if they have a habit of coming here and don't have a clear alternative.

Dumping multiple 'cultures' and interests into one board where Wrestling would obviously be the largest. Since that happened, wrestling dominated the board, and people don't really have the instinct to go make boxing threads on /asp/ - they just view it as "that cringy wrestling board". It would've been better to give wrestling and alternative sports its own board, and then eventually move wrestling into alternative sports.

The mods who allow atrocious bait threads, but ban people for saying "Who was the Jannett?" are pretty bad too. It just creates a state where fun things are suppressed as shitposting, but stuff that's partially relevant - even waifu threads - are allowed. /asp/ is a complete mess, and the worst part is that it's impossible for anyone other than the mods to fix it.

So since the start of this board back in 2013, like it was created maybe 4, 5 days before WM29. it was pretty slow back then for the wrestling posts and you actually see the other sports discussions on the front page, the board was more curtious back then, especially the wrestling posters. Carter was actually there in the beginning as well, he wasn't such a giant dickhead back then but he did actively try to run the general threads and was giant control freak about the discussions that were talked about, thinking he was the voice for wrestling fans on the board. I left as soon as i discovered /wooo/ from one of the other early posters here, i mean compared to /asp/ at the time /wooo/ had a real laid back board culture and more wealth of knowledge when it came to wrestling, and i stayed on there mainly ever since. I miss when the board posters were seperated, Honestly kind of wish Kirt had kept the Tubes simple and didn't expand to get users from Reddit and here then we wouldn't have to be dealing with crossover shitposting era that were in now.
