Orton is good with with he is given. Unforunately, just like Batista, his style doesn't do so well in this pussified PG era so he just half asses now because he can. You can call him boring all you want but Legend Killer and Schizo Orton are some of the most entertaining gimmicks post Attitude Era.

Years of Cena vs Orton, and both guys constantly being in the main event picture over more popular guys, soured fans to the point of backlash.

As for Orton specifically, he's got an attitude problem and has since gotten lazy. I think if he were the top guy over Cena, rather than second fiddle, he'd try more, but Cena has a better attitude and doesn't need motivation to put on a good match, just someone good to work with.
