You shitting me? Beefcake?! I thought Texas Tornado broke the streak.

Also, don't listen to newfag... the worst booking he's seen was Rockstar Spud winning the X Division title when he was busy jerking his brother off watching TNA.
>>
>>2921628
that's about 100 different booking decisions though
>>
I wouldn't say "worst" but Nash squashing Wrath *who had his own win streak and was getting over* in late 1998 was incredibly dumb. But Austin's heel turn will always be #1. I'd say Hogan's face turn in early 1999 and refusing to job again to Goldberg is up there too, as that caused the decline.
>>
>>2921744
And all were wrong
>>
i dont get what was wrong with austin's X7 heel turn

i mean i know it didnt work and that he kept being cheered anyway but it wasnt disastrous like anything that happened in WCW
>>
>>2921516
This should have been Vince turning face
>>
>Nash beating Wrath

I like these under the radar butterfly effect bad bookings more than the obvious ones.

How bout sending Chris Benoit to ECW(we)? Whoever made that decision has blood on their hands.

Look at the numbers WWF did in early 2001 with Nitro in the same timeslot.

Compare with the numbers they were doing after WrestleMania X-8

Invasion

>launching the Invasion early, without Flair, Goldberg, Sting, Nash, Hall, Hogan, Steiner...and most importantly, Bischoff
>including ECW to make 'the Alliance'
>making Shane & Stephanie in charge, making the whole thing about the McMahon family (again)
>booking the WCW guys as weak as shit, basically burying them
>making 'the Alliance' mostly WWF guys, so the whole feud was basically WWF vs WWF
>Austin turning heel again and joining the Alliance
>not instead booking Booker T to cheat to win the title off him. An ACTUAL WCW guy to take the WWF title to WCW. >dat heat. >dat real Invasion feel.

Good write-up.

If you look at that, it is hard to argue that this was not the very start of why WWE is so fucked today.

If the Invasion was done right, and WCW was seen as a scary threat, and guys who were over were allowed to get over, and then they rebranded both WWF and WCW together a little further down the line, the absolute clusterfuck of 2004-now may have been avoided.
>>
>>2922001
WWF business was already nose diving prior to the invasion though
>>
>>2922006
It was readjusting after an unsustainable market top. That's just a sign of massive success, not inevitable collapse.

They did, however, encourage an inevitable collapse in precisely the same way a well managed multinational does not.

Why did both WWF and WCW fuck him up so much in the long run? I mean he got exposure sure, but it was all at the service for nothing.
>>
>>2922077
WWF was well into full McMahon retardism once he returned from his injury during the early 90s
>>
>>2922077
Better question is why they didn't put effort into rectifying this by giving Curtis Axel a meaningful push. I mean he was intercontinental champion for a couple months, but he could have been more. He is talented

The Austin turn?
are you retarded.
Austin had recently won the rumble Again after the chair shots to kane, and went on to face a red hot Rock who had become a huge star.

Who would Austin have faced next?
he has beaten the corporation the minestry, the mcmahons, Taker and Kane, etc etc
what new journey or character arch would Austin have to go through?

the heel turn made Austin fresh again for another few years, gave us some of the most entertaining tv ever, and let the rock become the top face.

anyone who says this was a bad move is a moron, it was the Only move.

This - the big mistake really was not having HHH save the rock in the cage and have a heel austin face HHH programme in the summer

although the austin angle programme was gr8
>>
>>2925411
Watching this time period, I think it's rather evident Russo was trying to become WCW's Vince McMahon. McMahon was incredibly successful as a heel and despite not being one of the wrestlers, was one of the companies main attractions. Least that's my take on it as I've been watching this time period as of late.
