Best NJPW matches?

Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Minoru Suzuki at King of Pro Wrestling 2012 is still, in my opinion, the best NJPW match since at least 2001ish. It was better than the six star meme match.

My personal favorite is Naito vs AJ Styles at Wrestle Kingdom 9. The finish is a callback to their match at G1 Climax that year (2015) so I recommend watching that one first.

Second favorite is Kenny Omega vs Naito G1 Climax 26

Maybe it's the smartphone/YouTube era fucking up my attention span but I've tried to watch some of that stuff and I find a lot of it to be boring. I'm watching Rude vs Chono right now and it's mostly holds so far, I'm twenty minutes into the video and it's almost all been holds.

inb4 e drone or whatever - I just think that tastes have changed over the years.

Heavyweight stuff from that time period's a lot slower paced, but not bad by any means. There's often depth there that requires attention (akin to US Southern style territory wrestling which also had similar technical/psychological game.) Like the other guy said, start with the Juniors stuff first because that would be where the fast paced matches were.
