Any Germanbros in here? How's the skate scene? I'll be going there for Uni starting september, but I'm worried about skating since I'm not that good, I don't speak the language, and the weather seems to be skating unfriendly. Are indoor skateparks crowded and expensive? Do you have cheap boards and such? Are cops and pedestrians against street skating?

i learned back smith on a round rail today. it locked in and slid so easily. although at first it's scarier than frontside, after a while it becomes easier in comparison. i feel like i could hold it longer than i can a front smith. i'm still having trouble with back lips on rails though

How do you stay motivated? I've been skating for a few months now, with a bunch of guys who have been skating for years, and it's tough to not feel excluded. While they're sessioning stairsets and playing SKATE, I'm just sort of rolling around in the background with the three tricks I have: slow, janky manuals, shuvits without a pop, and an ollie you'd struggle to slip printer paper under.

Like, I'm basically just a spectator to the fun. They try and encourage me, but it just feels like I'm the little brother slowing everyone else down.

The best advice you'll get this early on: Stop trying to ollie for now. You look like fucking Bambi on the ice right now. Take your board out and just roll around for a few hours. Like, you should be totally at ease on your board before you start thinking about ollies. Hey some advice for a beginner needed. Does loosening your trucks make shove its easier? I would guess it helps on the scoop as it aids the board in getting a little sideways when you put pressure on it. I ride fairly tight trucks.

Not necessarily. You're looking too much into it and inventing skatebroscience. It's only easier if you're more comfortable riding loose trucks in general. Pop shoveits are also already easy enough, literally baby mode. You don't need adjustments like that to learn them. The only time those adjustments would be needed is arguably only for smiths and crooks. Otherwise ride your trucks however you like them. I prefer my trucks on the tighter side too. It's all personal preference.

Listen man, I was in the same boat as you for a while. An ollie, shitty fakie shuvs, and a manual 3 tries out of 10. Just stick with it, and do not give up. I was so pissed seeing people doing stair/ledge sessions or games of skate like you said. One day some dickhead was laughing at me because I couldn't do any tricks, and I got so pissed off at him, and myself. I just used that anger as a motivator to get better. Fast forward to today and I can do stairs, flip tricks, switch tricks, fakie, nollie, manuals in any stance etc. Just don't give up. eventually something will click in your head and you'll start picking up tricks fast as hell

Nice setup. Welcome decks are awesome, I'm riding one right now and it's my favorite deck I've ever owned. I'd recommend steel bearings over ceramic if you plan on doing mostly street skating. You could get a set of bones swiss for cheaper than the ceramic reds. Have fun getting back into skating man.

My favorite board was actually the second board I ever owned; it was a birdhouse deck. I learned almost every trick I know on that deck.
Also, I have some extra wheels with some bones swiss bearings on them in my closet. I can switch them out if I need to.

I really liked >pic related, too; so, I got just the deck with griptape on it. It's actually the deck I would've gotten with my complete if it werent an odd shape/size. It's an 8.38, and I'm afraid it might be too big, since I mostly skate street. I can swap back and forth this way, or use this one as a spare if I crack the first one sooner than I expect. Can't hurt to have an extra, anyways.

I'm really into mystic/witchy shit, making Welcome's designs a perfect fit for me. I was planning to get a JK Industries or Alien Workshop deck, but saw those and was instantly drawn in.

Back foot is good. You're picking it up quickly with the pop and if anything bringing it up too much (maybe don't change that while you're learning.).

You're slamming your front foot down instead of leveling out. Jump with the ollie, and have your frond foot hang out up there, with maybe a light arc to stabilize before you catch and land. Look back at the video where your back foot is highest. If your front foot had still been up you would have had a higher ollie.

It seems like stomping the front foot would help the tail come up, but beyond a certain point it actually hurts you by driving the whole board back to the ground.
