I was in university then. I watched the MITB ppv with about 10 people. i don't speak to any of them now.
>>2886128
Good thing WWE isn't a wrestling company then, huh?

That's poetic irony right there

That arena looks comfy. Wish they did more shows in smaller arenas like that but I get why they don't.
>>2886237

>the only other promotion in the world is New Japan
Ye daft cunt
>While the summer of Punk may have been sunny for CM Punk fans and Internet message boards, it was more of a disappointing season at the box office. The WWE SummerSlam 2011 buyrate is in and let’s just say that the numbers aren’t too kind to CM Punk as a top guy.
>Perception isn’t always reality in professional wrestling and it has never been more evident than this past summer. There was more buzz following CM Punk’s RAW Roulette promo than just about anything sans The Rock returning this year. Yet those seven days of buzz was not significant of overall WWE fan interest. Now that the dust has settled, it is fairly apparent that you need a lot more than one week of shock value to sell an angle to the mass WWE audience.
>Mike Johnson has the numbers over at PWInsider.com and they aren’t pretty. According to Mike, SummerSlam saw a 14% decrease in buys as compared to last year’s show. The show did 301,000 buys, 127,000 domestic, and 174,000 international. 300,000 buys wouldn’t have been bad for Money in the Bank but not for one of the big four pay per views.
>Last year’s SummerSlam headlined by the great Nexus vs. WWE angle did 350,000 buys. The year before, SummerSlam 2009 headlined John Cena vs. Randy Orton, the return of Degeneration X, and Punk vs. Jeff Hardy did 369,000 buys.
>To look at the angle as a whole, you have to include the Money in the Bank 2011 buyrate which was 185,000 buys, 132,000 domestic as well as declining ratings over the course of the CM Punk angle. If you combine everything and look at the big picture, you would have to conclude that as much as you may have liked the angle, it was a failure in terms of business.
Phil pls go
>Putting someone over in their hometown
What a thought.
When a wrestler comes from a place like Philly or Chicago or Detroit or New York and they have even a fraction of talent, I dunno why WWE doesn't latch on to them like grim death specifically for moments like that. That's the shit that lasts forever.
>>2886111
Thank god this cringelord is no longer a part wrestling.
Wish his fans would do the same thing and move over to whining about MTV or something
CM Punk is literally the most reddit wrestler of all time
>>2886354
I love how misleading this article is, because Punk's heat was already killed by WWE in the lead-up TO SummerSlam.
>>2886117
how did it smell?
Remember when marks were acting like Kevin Nash being back was a good thing?
>>2886111
Is this the last time they sold out an arena like this?
>>2886111
Do you think he ever regrets leaving?
>>2886440
Probably. I can't really remember seeing an arena this packed for them in years.
>>2886441
>does Punk regret not dying from malpractice
>>2886432
It's so sad looking back in hindsight at how that whole shitshow of an angle played out.
They completely and utterly demolished Punk's white hot momentum with surgical precision. The moment he caught fire, in lumbered Nash and HHH to take a big fat steaming shit on him and try to glean all the attention/heat off his angle for themselves.
Just like the old days!
>>2886432
It was though.
>>2886354
>top guy
>never main evented
That's why Punk was so awesome. But the rest was shit, the o only reason was he
>>2886140
Pero hablo espanol y amo lucha underground

Summerslam 2010 350,000
Summerslam 2011 296,000
Summerslam 2012 358,000
hmmmmmmm
>one blip on the radar in over a decade plus
Yeah, that's really something.
>>2886111
It was pretty good but literally everything after that match was a major letdown. Everything. Fuck, Mark Henry's WHC run was far more exciting, and that's not even a knock against Mark Henry, but that was a 40 year old dude on the B show. And you can't blame booking or the writers, because not even Punk's promos after that match were any good, and he WAS cutting unscripted promos at that time.
Also, Lesnar returning and Lesnar/Cena 2012 came close enough to being just as exciting (if not more so), and it had a far better payoff.
Best moment in the history of that company.
>>2886111
If you watch nothing but RAM and Cuckdown, sure.
>>2886354
It's WWE fault, they never consolidated Punk as a champion until he beat Del Rio in fucking november (and that match wasn't even the main event)... "summer of punk" was a meme, in that period of time Punk was defeated by Cena, HHH and Del Rio and was involved in a feudn with Kevin "AHHH MY LEFT KNEE" Nash, wwe once again had a lot of money in their hands but HHH's ego fucked the whole thing.
Imagine if Austin were beated and defeated CLEAN constatly by Vince in 98', Austin would have been a fucking joke for the audience.
>>2886424
I thought that was Booker T
