what is wrestling psychology?
Some meme to make mandrama sound deeper than it is, when in reality, it's just two rednecks fake fighting like a bunch of autists.
Put as simply as possible, it's the art of telling a story in the ring that the audience believes and reacts to in the intended ways.

Where you work the leg for 20 minutes and win with a leg submission.
Rather than work the leg for 20 minutes then your opponent forgets about it and does a big flip to beat you.

worked

It's a meme.

These together. Man-drama aside, watch the two Triple H vs Undertaker matches at Wrestlemania 27 and 28. They pretend like they're beating the shit out of each other and by how they tell the stories with their bodies, you actually believe them. They look tired, they look beat up, they control the pace, work certain body parts, and tell the story they want to convey. Triple H trying each and every time to batter the Undertaker, who just won't stay down, and having to beat him to a point where he just doesn't want to do it anymore, even trying to reason with Taker to just stay down. Imagine putting your dog down with a stick, and each time, you don't hit hard enough to kill it, so you have to keep beating it with the stick to put it out of its misery.

>Sweet Chin Music - Pedigree combo
>Shawn losing his shit after Taker kicks out
>Triple H's final exhausted Suck It to Undertaker at the end of WM28.
Look, I know those matches were indulgent as shit, but I fucking love them.

>to see how wrestling psychology works
>watch a Triple Cringe match
HEY PAUL!

Man you can say a shitload of stuff about Haitch's matches but you can't say they don't have psychology.
Working body parts, selling, emoting, pacing. It's making the audience believe in the match and the characters within it.
The opposite of this is guys doing lots of moves with no selling and just rushing to the next spot so they can get all their shit in.

Hi, Bret!
Try getting a reservation at Dorsea now, you fucking stupid bastard.

or your opponent does 3 perfect dropkicks to stop your momentum and end up retaining because of it
To see anti-psychology, watch any Young Cukcs match. It's CRINGE.
>le do TONS of le flipz
>le do movez
>LOL UR DEAD!
>more flipz
>more movez
>superkick!
>superkick!!
>superkick!!!
>LE MELTZ DRIVER!!!!
and this goes on for 20mins at least all through the match from beginning to end. you're exhausted after 5 minutes and want it to end.
The things you do in the ring seem logical and make sense. Not just mechanically, but are compatible with whatever your character is.

I really like the YB way of being as entertaining as they can without psychology as long as it is funny and entertaining and not boring like some of their matches are
Listen to Brian Kendrick on the Stone Cold podcast. He geeks out about it for a while.

>absolutely worked
they're doing this ironically
