the great debate
>>
Rock was, is and will ever be superior. Only mouthbreathing rednecks (aka the entire audience at the time) like Austin.
>>
>>2815667
rock is wayyyyy more over and richer than steve...so it is pretty easy to see at this point
>>
Austin sucked.
He looked the same, did the same thing, and said the said thing his entire career.

Just like when everything gets popular because of the cool kids, the clueless retards (who outnumber the cool kids) come along and ruin it by choosing Austin as their guy, and they both took down the entire industry together when poor little cry baby wouldn't help build up the WWE nWo as a credible foe and drove away all the cool fans.

>Austin sucked.
>He looked the same, did the same thing, and said the said thing his entire career.

Dwayne is a hundred times more guilty of this
>>
>>2815667
Austin could cut a promo about driving to a local liquor store and it would be more interesting than anything Rock ever said on the mic
>>
>>2815734
That's only because you find it so relatable to your daily routine, Billy Bob.

people these days don't even know who Steve Austin is anymore. Everyone knows who Dwayne The Johnson is

Austin was more entertaining and more over than Rock ever was. Rock is better known now but that doesn't change the past.

Yeah okay.

There's track suit Rock
There's silk shirt Rock
NOD Rock
Tattooed Roided Rock
and he was introducing new catchphrase monthly when he was over.

Here's what Austin introduced after Bottom line/can of whoop ass = Boring and What chants. Great contribution to wrestling.

Austin of course

Complete lie, most people over 18 would know who Stone Cold Steve Austin was if you asked them

Stone Cold captured the zeitgeist of the 90's.

The Rock was huge, but he was always the foil to Stone Cold.

The list goes
1) Hogan
2) Flair
3) Stone Cold
4) Andre
5) Dusty
6) Rock
7) Cena
8) Sting
9) Michaels
10) Hart
>>
>>2815801
People who are 18 right now were beginning to develop long term memory in the year Austin retired.

Hi Cody!
>>
Rock was actually a distant second behind Austin in dime-drawing power during the attitude era, and only really came close during periods where Austin was injured or otherwise out of the picture. Anyone who thinks otherwise either wasn't actually watching the show back then or got worked by WWE's revisionist history.
>>
>>2815866
If it was Cody, he'd be number one

I remember people chanting for Austin at the 2000 RR. Things weren't as good when Austin was out of commission.

The Rock. No contest. Austin's offence was always kinda dull and he can't hold a candle to Rock in terms of mic skills or charisma.

The implication demented and paranoid Austin after WM17 is the same as Austin in 1998 since he still wore the same shorts is retarded. The Rock going through his old shtick years later is apparently a greater difference.
>>
Austin, not even close.
>>
>>2818162
Gee I wonder who was responsible
>>
>>2818162
Match was 2.5 stars and gets worse the more times you see it. Not only was the finish shitty as fuck with Austin heel turn but it took like 5 Stunners and 30 straight chair shots to put Rock away.
>>
I love both but consider Austin better in pretty much every way. He was more intense, was more versatile as a talker and wrestler and I think his mind for wrestling is on another level. He also kickstarted WWE's boom period back then, which Rock was a massive part of but not the main catalyst like Steve. Rock's still one of the best ever but if I was choosing one for my company, it'd be Austin every time.
>>
>>2818252

Do people unironically think Rock was a bigger star/draw in wrestling than Austin?

the company was on it's deathbed until Austin came along, Rock became the number one guy when business was already on fire

Not saying Rock deserves no credit at all he was one of the biggest stars of all time, but Austin was way more important

This

>rope breaks in a no DQ match
>>
>>2818604
>thinks a rope break is somehow a DQ
18+, rope breaks are only discounted in a falls count anywhere match because if you are under the rope your whole body isn't in the ring so no fall can be counted
>>
>>2815667
Kids during AE liked The Rock and everyone else liked Stone Cold.
>>
>>2818619
What happens if they hold on to the submission past 5? Exactly. Now fuck off with your retarded logic.
>>
>>2815725
You're an idiot.
>>
>>2815667
The answer is Austin. There is no debate.

He's just as charismatic as The Rock, if not more so, and is leagues better in the ring. Austin was the reason the Attitude Era was so hot. Rock just told some vulgar jokes for kids to laugh at and people think he was as talented as Stone Cold.
>>
Austin walked out
Rock went out on his back like a pro
Rock is the richest man in hollywood and has purveyed his skills into this generstions #1 leading man
Austin has a podcast

And to this day I have never seen anyone consistently hold the crowd in the palm of their hand as effortlessly as Rock.

>the company was on it's deathbed until Austin came along
Austin came along and it was STILL on it's deathbed. Nothing changed until Hollywood Hogan and the nWo made wrestling mainstream for a brief period, then dorks ruined it by thinking Austin was cool when he clearly was a one trick pony riding the coattails of the nWo wave, which is why his reign was so short, and why wrestling died right after Austin refused to play ball with the WWE nWo. These are actual facts. Not retcon WWE bullshit that acts like a 3:16 promo changed wrestling. It didn't. No one saw it live and no one gave a shit about WWE until WCW brought in a bunch of new and old fans.
>>
>>2815801
BS normies 18+ have forgotten wrestling even existed by now.
>>
>>2820093
What the fuck are you talking about? WWF was still on its deathbed in 1997 because shawn and bret were the top guys. Once Austin became champion in 1998 it was only a few weeks until they ended nitro's winning streak. And how the fuck is Austin an nWo ripoff? He's nothing like them, DX was the shitty nWo knockoff.
>>
>>2815791
SCSA never needed to reinvent himself because never got stale.
>>
>>2820120
Who called him an nWo rip off? Are you a functioning illiterate or legally retarded? Probably both.

And WCW losing the ratings was more to do with them dropping the ball, and less to do with WWE, since they clearly LOST ALL OF THE FANS that WCW brought to the Monday Night wars and are right back on that death bed again. Giving WWE credit, is just as stupid as blaming Bret and HBK for the show being totally fucking stupid back than, like it is now.
