In hindsight, was he a one trick pony on the mic? He only had catchphrases and said them over and over again.
Know your role and shut your mouth lil jabroni

He had more than catchphrases. You only remember the catchphrases because the crowd wanted them repeated ad nauseam.
He made them work in context to his promo. He wasn't like that Enzo queer
>>2796907
Anybody who thinks the Rocks promos were just catchphrases probably never saw his older promos.
It's the fact he mixed up creative ways of using catchphrases with some creative insults that made him great.
And how do you think the sheer number of catchphrases he had came about in the first place because he'd make an awesome promo and some of what he says catches on with the crowd. Creating a successful catchphrase is much harder than you think (much harder than referring to your opponent by their real name to excite the smarks). I mean look at all the failed attempts at getting catchphrases over in today's era.

>much harder than referring to your opponent by their real name to excite the smarks
lol, couldn't resist, could you.
Yeah, well, so did Stone Cold, and Hoak Hogan, and Ric Flair.
Catchphrases are good at creating familiarity and memorability.
Do what works until it doesn't.

Hey Phil :3
>>2796907
Watch some 1999-2000 Rock promos. He only kept repeating the catch phrases because the audience loved it when he did that. He was very good on the mic
>>2796907
OP confirmed jabroni
>>2796907
Yes, he also outed himself as a fag wit his constant references to shoving things up men's asses
>>2797430
It's not gay of you turn it side ways first.
>>2796907
Rock became a parody of himself, but for several years his promos were must see.
>THE FACT OF THE MATTER IS
>ROODY POO
>TURN IT SIDEWAYS
>GO DOWN JABRONI BOULEVARD, HANG A RIGHT AND CHECK INTO THE SMACKDOWN HOTEL
>IF YA SMELL
>IT DOESN'T MATTER
>THE ROCK SAYS THIS
>STICK EM STRAIGHT UP YOUR CANDY ASS
>stares into the distance
People un-ironically think this is GOAT material? CM Punk destroyed him on the mic.
Rock was one of the best ever on the mic before his return
hes bad these days, its just Dwayne playing the part of The Rock
>>2796907
Yes. Most overrated of all time. He was always cringeworthy garbage.
The rock would flop so hard today, it only worked because pro wrestling was at its peak and people were less judgmental as compared to today where every fan looks you under a microscope.
>>2798216
Yeah because Rocky Maivia was such a hit with the crowds of 1997
>>2798216
Rock become the number one guy when Austin got injured, business was so hot that they had sell outs booked in advance
He would flop hard if he followed Shawn and Bret instead of Austin
>>2798216
>The rock would flop so hard today
yeah because in an era where Jinder Mahal and Kevin Owens can be world champions THE ROCK would be a flop
>>2798234
>2000 Royal Rumble
>All about Rock vs Beeg
>crowd chants Austin Austin even though he had been out for months and would return 3 months later
>>2796907
>He had catchphrases and said them over and over again.
True.
>He only had catchphrases and said them over and over again.
False.
He was one of the GOAT.
>>2798363
>not knowing that Rock is a mark for KO
>>2798390
>and would return 3 months later
And how were the crowd supposed to know that?
