This. Ask why Miz/Ziggles was one of the best matches last year. Even though title vs career has been done a hundred times, it's the uncertainty and the stakes.
With Cena and Punk, the rasslin was pretty good. But the story leading in, the uncertainty of how much was a work, the promos, the hype, the crowd especially, and that finish made it what it was.
