Does he even watch them? The 2/3 falls match was a 4.75 minimum, the triple threat elimination that AOP won was a 4.25 at best, the ladder match & the first big match vs Revival were somewhere inbetween.

The point still stands then slightly modified. The 2/3 falls was worth a 4.75 if not a 5, and the match involving AOP worth a 4.25.

They were not worth the same rating at all.

Between the 2/3 falls and the UK Championship match one of those was worth 5.

Nah if you actually watch NJPW, Meltzer is right, they have such a higher quality over all, matches that make sense, put in as the pay offs in feuds that build and make you believe in both performers, etc. Bate/Dunne got the right rating. It was a VERY strong match but needed that something extra, be it the booking, or an incredible finish.

The 2 out of 3 falls tag match was 5 stars though Big Dick Dave can suck a Big Dick.

Nah, you get 5* for having two great workers, a hot crowd, and long term booking angles that factor into the match.

Shibata was an over as fuck babyface underdog making good on a 2 year promise to challenge Okada for the title. The match was also Shibata's long-awaited redemption after being ostracized for leaving the company when they needed him most.

Nevermind the in-ring story of Shibata dominating the match but losing because of his overconfidence that he could take the Rainmaker.

There's just way more emotion and long-term story built into their singles matches, that's a big reason why they're generally better matches than WWE.

Fucking both Shawn v Taker matches and both Haitch v Taker wrestle mania matches were hot crowd, great workers, long term booking matches and 3/4 of those were better then Shibata v Okada. Why no 5 stars there? Okada v Shibata is far and away the worst 5 star Match meltzer has ever given. There is no reasonable explanation for it.
