CWC had a lot of guys that would be making one time only appearances, so they were trying the hardest to showcase their work.
When you do something too often, like the guys on 205 Live have to, you won't give 100% so you can keep doing it for a long time without getting hurt.
Also, of course, in the CWC, wrestlers didn't had to show charisma, just ring work. In a weekly show, you have to, and almost none of these fuckers can do it.

There's actually a really good point here: 205 Live as it is now seems to be made by somebody who hates cruiserweights.

The fact that there's no prominent Luchadors, combined with the fact that the only actual flippy shit comes from Mustafa Ali and Dab Man turns the show into literally, "The main roster, only unestablished, less interesting, and everybody's tiny."

Consider a guy like Tony Nese: Dude is a straight up, main-roster wrestler in mini form.
That would be a novelty if it was one guy, but then you've got Drew Gulak, Ariya Daivari, and Noam Dar all doing the same, normal, non-cruiser style, only they're not ripped.

Because nobody knows who any of these guys are. You have 4, maximum 6 guys that crowds recognize. Who is Gulak, who is Ali, who is Daivari, who is Nese? TJP, Neville, Gallagher, Aries, Swann and Kendrick are the only ones who have had any mic time, and even then the entire division only has one story on Raw, the other 3ish stories are only on 205live, which nobody watches, which means nobody in the crowd will pop for, meaning the people who do watch dont care. Just promote those six, Alexander and Nese to NXT and fire the rest.

I subscribe to the network and only ever watch PPVs and Takeovers, and the occasional episode of something like table for 3 depending on who is appearing on it.

I simply don't have the desire to watch more wrestling after the above and Raw/Smackdown.

Reminder -- Cruiserweight Classic was created to take away viewers from Lucha Underground.

Like every move WWE makes now, it's about hurting their competition.

true, but i think this was on purpose to put some life back into the crowd with the high flyers since over half of nitro was promos, usually just NWO members gloating. maybe i'm in the minority but i looked forward to the curiserweights every week. i don't know why wwe doesn't use the division the same way and let them do high risk stuff.

At least with NXT you might be seeing future Raw/SD stars. At least with Main Event you might be watching something with a slight bit of relevance eventually.

I would have just picked the best of them to join NXT, give that brand a 2nd tier title. Call it the Atlantic Championship, or go back to using the European Championship. No need for special ropes, or weight limits, but obviously book the cruiserweight guys most of the time.

I think the biggest problems are keeping not letting them fight people outside the division and keeping the matches vanilla. The fucking women have more specialty matches than 205, at best they get multi man matches, nothing else. Letting them be outside their division can help build them in the audience not already watching and make it not looks like they are people that can't compete with the big boys. Let them get far, so far the only representation they have is Sin fucking Cara. If your only experience with them is seeing Cara botch and job all day, why the fuck would you want to see more people like him? The did fine in the rumble, why not let them do other shit. Especially since it seems like only 4 of them are relevant to the title since it started.


Have cruiserweight stories on raw instead of just matches. Anybody watching those that has not seen 205 won't know what any of it is about.
