Why is there less and less pure heels now in WWE, is it just

The WWE is just shit with characters these days to begin with.

They hardly have any over face either.

WWE can't book face OR heel so the only people who get over are guys who excel in-ring or whoever beats up Roman Rains.

Face and heel are decided by who is good or bad at wrestling now. Ric Flair would.never be able to get a boo if he was in his prime today.

Owens is a great heel and a legitimately unlikable piece of shit as a character but still gets more cheers than most people on the roster because of his indy cred. The only way you can be a heel now is for the fans to think you don't "deserve it". See: Roman, Jinder, Miz.

Heels are about breaking the rules and having unappealing personas. Lots of heels these days are too flashy for their own good, and the writer's team isn't finding enough new rules to break.

Cheap shots won't get you booed anymore. Stealing someone else's tap-out in a fatal 4-way won't get you booed. Interrupting a match will rarely get you booed. Insulting other wrestlers won't get you booed unless it's the fan favorite.

Look at Roman Reigns as an outlier though, he's unappealing as fuck and broke the rules by disrespecting the fan favorite. He got booed for 8 minutes straight.
