Precisely how much did i fuck up ordering these? Couple reviews at the bottom compare them to reds and even bones swiss, so I'm assuming they're perfectly reliable.

i already have two other sets from old wheels that i have laying around, but i just wanted to fuck around and experiment.

people always say "just buy reds" but then this pair goes and breaks from riding around in a bowl for an hour. let's say i try these out and they're even better. makes me go "well why the fuck did i ever spend extra for reds when these are just as reliable"

>>
>>2564703
You don't need to be clever, just have a quick look around before dropping in/taking your turn to make sure nobody else is planning on doing the same thing. If you get the good old "your turn" head nod then you're free to go.

I think this is the main reason why people hate scooters so much. They're so easy to ride that kids with no knowledge of skatepark etiquette can just roll up with ten of their friends and get in everyone's way and throw the whole concept of taking turns straight in the trash.

great start, but don't forget the ollie fundamentals, and you'll have a much nicer kickflip. try to lift your back knee up after the pop, rather than flicking the foot out of the way and then landing heavy on the back, and flick your front foot out more with the scrape, to level the board out. as you can see your feet are in kind of a hurry to get out of the way, which is ruining your clean, level pop.

I'm the guy from a few threads back who recently jumped back on the board a week and a bit ago. the trucks and wheels were rusted to hell, had to use wd 40 to get it going and the deck waterlogged. ollies absolutely killed me so I just got back into pushing off and shuv its but that still killed me.
I'm getting better, ollies hurt less and can now pop shuv it. the only option I had really was to replace my deck but lucky for me I person I use to be friends with and fucking hate left his deck with my a couple years back and it was only ridden 2 or 3 times so I've got a deck in top shape. so are the trucks wheels and bearings. I was surprised by the bearings I've only ridden reds in my life but I think these are swiss. the only thing that kills me is the width of the deck. it's so fucking thin compared to what I've always ridden. so much so I've considered changing the trucks over to the waterlogged deck until I get something new. just glad I won't have to replace hardware other than grip tape.

But yea slowly chipping away and getting a tad bit more comfortable. it's been years since riding. also moved away from the suburbs that weren't too far from the city to a rural area but have a local park 15 minute skate away and a bunch of indoor stuff.

Glad as hell I found these threads that helped me force my ass back on the deck. have been drinking everyday since for like a third of the year almost a half a year and have grown a gut which is weird considering i've always been underweight.

but yea just citing my slow as fuck progress and a thanks to you guys for motivating me.

Once you get older, you'll understand that people in their 30s can well decide for themselves what acting their age means. Let's hope this happens before you turn 40.
>>
>>2580922
There's some really good shit on Instagram though that you wouldn't see posted anywhere else like https://www.instagram.com/p/BRRqdtIhY4H/. Most of it just seems to be buried beneath the same old videos though.

It's also nice to have a quick scroll down and just watch some 10 second bangers without having to sit down and watch a long video part.
>>

>that brapping you can hear in his wheels from too much powersliding

yeah it's cool, it doesn't seem overly technical though. seems like that's what that setup is there for.
>>
>>2580932
That's not the point I was trying to make, I was trying to say that Instagram is good for finding random people who can really shred instead of limiting yourself to only watching pro video parts.

Are there any older guys here that can tell me what it's like still skating into your mid 20s? Is there stigma, can you still find people around your age to skate with, do you still have fun?
I'm 25 and haven't skated for years due to various circumstances. I've probably forgotten everything and all the muscle memory by now, so how hard would it be to get back into it?
>>
>>2582046
I'm almost 24. The group of guys I skate with range in age from 15-32. We actually were talking about our ages the other day and how because we're all peers through skateboarding we don't ever really notice the age difference. Except when someone is begging for you to go buy them some tinnies/fags.

Thanks for the response. My biggest fear is being the only older guy out there and having no one to relate with while I try to get my bearings back.

Nice choice, dude

I've always had a thing for more squared tails, so I'm always a sucker for a board like that. I find that it makes my ollies feel way better (foot placement seems more comfortable), but it's definitely just a psychological thing.

Enjoy it dude!
>>
>>2584130

>>
I almost lost my kickflips, granted I landed a couple today but they don't get very high off the ground and are very meh. If I warm up by skating a ledge or something I can pull of great kickflips, but skating only flatground I guess I don't have the board control and can't land them at all, I just don't commit. Shit sucks homies

skaters, as a rule, are not judgmental. they can brag a lot sometimes, but ive yet to meet one that is negative about anyone skating. this anon
>>2567691
knows whats up. unless its an event like go skate day at fdr, you will be given your turn. even if you cant even drop in, just fuck up and climb back up the ramp, you will be given a chance to try every now and again. dont do that though, get there early and get the simple done. drop in, rock to fakie, then youre welcome to try whatever you want and people will be excited to see you accomplish whatever your next goal is. say its rock and roll. nothing, right? people are airing and blunt stalling and whatever. just keep trying and see how excited people get when you finally get it. you wont find a group more positive than skaters
>>
>>2582046
no stigma, it's all in your head. And your body can handle it fine, you 're in your mid fucking twenties for fuck's sake.
>>
>>2565856
this. pretty fucked up that people dont seem to understand that a skatepark is a park of athletes trying to achieve a goal. his toddler playing on a ramp is no different than taking your toddler onto the field of a football game. you arent allowed to get mad at what happens when youre that stupid

iv had boards i can tre, and boards i cant. i had one i had it 9 out of 10, but since then i cant really do them. more likely to hardflip. i swear thats a problem of mine though. i always commit to landing on the board, upside down, or on nose, but those are the two i generally get. fuck, im just a year quit from skating and curiously checking this board. now i want to again...
>>
>>2581960
8.25 is the perfect size for me. I've gad a 7.5, a 7.75, an 8, and now this one. I doubt I'll ever need to go any bigger.
>>
>>2584743
the only time I get annoyed with noob skaters is when I know they are more than capable of getting the simple trick they're trying/you're giving them pointers on and they're not giving it their full effort. Like, I know you can drop in, you know you can drop in, but you keep putting your foot down on the ramp when you try it. At this point the only thing that's stopping you from dropping in is your own misplaced fear. I'd rather you just committed, stacked it, and learnt from your mistakes. that really grinds my gears
>>
>>2584818
why do you have to hit me right in the feels anon? why?
>>
>>2584818
My friend is like this with rock fakies and it's stressful because I want him to land it just as much as he does, but he just can't get over the fear of having to lift his nose up and just lets his trucks hit the coping time after time. I've tried showing him how far he needs to push down and he asked me to record him doing it so he could see how far he's doing it but he still can't get it and I don't want to seem like a pushy faggot.
>>
>>2584825
because you don't get better unless you conquer the ramp in your mind. Maybe I get annoyed because I've had to shout down my rational mind and blindly commit over and over and over again ever since I've started skateboarding. It's fucking scary and you inevitably end up getting hurt. A lot. But the only way to progress at skateboarding is to push yourself and to go beyond your comfort zone. This is the case at all stages of skating as well. So when I see a beginner who just isn't trying I feel as though they're not really skateboarding.
>>
>>2584836
This is what I'm talk about. You have to at least try to finish the trick, even if it means you're going to hang up a few times and hurt yourself. It's literally part of the process.
If I were you I'd just stop encouraging/helping him. You can't do any more than you're already done. The battle is his now.

I know this is all making me sound like a screeching autist. Sorry.

I have heard some tips from different skaters :
- you have to twist your front foot very hard
- you have to put more weight on the front foot
- you have to jump very high

But I think my pop is not as strong as when I want to ollie for example

I ll keep your tips in mind 8
>>
>>2597198
In general, trying harder and putting more effort in and twisting your joints and muscles is the wrong way to go. There's plenty of skaters who appear to pull their shit off without looking like they're straining to take a dump, you know?

Look at what's happening, consider what should happen instead. One step at a time. Know what you're doing. Plan what you're doing. "Do, or do not-- there's no try." Always aim to land your tricks.

I don't think the problem is at the pop. Flick with an attitude, STAY over your board and remember to keep your back foot where it is, don't pull it back to your body for protection.

>>2597508
well sometimes you want to fuck around and see how your board responds. Everything comes with practice. I agree absolutely on the second part however.
>>
>>2597535

i know this kid who has the same welcome deck. He comes to spots in trackies and a baggy tie-dye weed t-shirt and always has a hip flask with him. He can't do any tricks other than this weird thing where he jumps off the board with one foot on either side of the board, then he bends over and grabs the board in indy, and then does a finger flip and jumps back on it. He just does that over and over and over. Fucking weird man.
That sticker is gay af

Me and my friend have fucked up knees most likely from skateboarding. My knee cracks everyday but I don't get pain from it unless I sit allday long and shitbrowse 4chan.
My friend on the other hand experiences often pain went into a MRT and the doctor told him that he has almost no cartilage in the knee anymore.
We both are only 23 so he has a point but every other sport brings risks and they are often far greater than in skateboarding.
