(Ones that didnt get the 5 star rating but deserved it)
you first OP
>>2564147
Sorry, could you not see the image or something? Here's a clearer one
>>2564143
>>2564143
>>2564160
This is actually correct.
>>2564160
THIS
>>2564160
Now i gotta rewatch that its always good
>>2564155
This is one of my favorite matches from the past few years and probablu my fav from seths title run. Great match but shitty ending. I really excited to see rollins turn face after this match, he was playing the crowd like jewish harp.
Don't have the image but Zayn/Owens at Battleground
>>2564207
Indeed. What a waste of potential.
Zayn vs Nakamura
>>2564207
Commentary hurts it for me, desu (which is weird because Cole doesn't usually hurt matches for me), but I agree.
>>2564214
-.-
When Roman was actually over
HHH vs Benoit vs HBK
Taker vs HBK (WM26)
Shelton vs HBK
Angle vs HBK (all of them)
Y2J vs HBK ladder match (No Mercy 08)
tl;dr give HBK that half or quarter extra star he damn well deserved
Literally none of the matches that were posted in this thread were 5 stars. Not a single one.
Until now, that is. Move over, faggots, here's a true WWE 5 stars match.
>>2564160
best triple threat of the last decade at least
>>2564166
Is there anything more JUST than post-leprechaun Hornswoggle?
DIY vs Revival 2/3 falls
>>2564160
This.
>>2564725
>Rybitch
Instantly loses a half star
>>2564746
3MB Hornswoggle was him at his best
>>2564761
Yes, fucking awesome match, and this is coming from an anti smark.
>>2564768
Get off the internet Phil.
>>2564761
This
>>2564240
Didn't know it was for Roman. Was this pre-smarks roman?
>>2564761
Yes
Plus every Cena vs Styles match
Any Roman Reigns match discarding the undertaker one
>>2564761
Yeah, if this wasn't a 5 Star match the term has no meaning for tag team wrestling.
>>2564833
Smarks used to like Roman, actually everyone used to like Roman, now no one likes Roman.
>>2564995
apparently roman vs aj at extreme rules was really good
And Austin/Rock WM 17
>>2564773
kek
>>2565038
Because his role in the shield days was clearly defined as the powerhouse/bouncer, and everyone in the audience can feel it.
>>2565038
he was seen as riding coat tails to some extent but also lending physical credibility as a necessary evil. also, he took Chis hero's spot in the shield.
>>2564770
dad hated it cause the ending was predictable he liked the first one cause it had shocks
HBK/Taker WM25
>ITT: WWE marks have low standards
>>2564833
He was already rapidly losing heat before the injury.
>>2564233
yes yes yes yes yes based ziggler in his prime
>>2565803
>end of 2014
>Ziggler in his prime
>>2565804
considering he isnt liked anymore and anything he does is shit on, yes
>>2565818
Ziggler's prime was like 2011-2013. Like...5+
>>2565818
it stopped at the end of 2014 after his ladder match with harper at tlc you faggot
Piper Bret WM8
Bret Austin WM13
Angle Shane KOTR
>>2565864
Bret vs Austin at WM13 was a 5 star match.
>>2564166
This was actually a really good match 5/5
>>2565039
Their matches at Extreme Rules and at Payback were great
>>2564143
Steiners vs. Doom is one of the best worked tag matches ever.
Simmons and Poppa Pump put on a motherfucking show that dwarfs 90% of tag matches in the last 10 years.
>>2564166
this match was better then it had any right to be, kinda like hogan/vince.
I don't think you can really grade it on the 5 star scale tho, its kinda like taker/foley hell in a cell, is it 5 star worthy? fuck yeah, could you grade it as such traditionally? Nope.
>going by sheer crowd insanity Hogan/Rock and RVD/Cena are both 6 stars.
>>2564163
This match was fucking fantastic. It had everything
Cena v AJ 1 and 2
>>2564143
Punk vs. Lesnar
>>2566408
best match at mania and does not get any credit by overweight smarks
>>2564143
Shane vs AJ
Also, Goldberg v Lesnar 3 was exactly what it needed to be and delivered the second best match of the night. Easily 5 stars.
>>2564160
>It's a "this match is a triple threat because one guy politicked his way to not eating a pin" episode
>>2566419
>second best match of the night. Easily 5 stars.
kek if something's not even the best match on its card it's not getting 5*
>>2566426
Are you implying that 2 5 star matches can't exist on the same card?
>>2566427
It's never happened before on much better shows than Wrestlemania SUN
>>2565818
you'd be surprised by the large amount of his merch that people still buy.
if the guy would've got the push he deserves he could've been a mega star.
>>2564163
This one sticks out to me
>>2566443
holy shit kill yourself
>built as a story since Zayn's D E B U T
>so over as a babyface he's allowing Neville, a who's gimmick is being flashy and world-class to turn into an effective arrogant heel
>Neville playing the part well
>Zayn's path to redemption outlined perfectly
>have career performances
>GOAT-level chemistry
>do all their spots flawlessly, botch-free
>paced well, gets hectic quick and uses ref-bumps to play with fans wonderfully even though it's a forgone conclusion Zayn is winning, makes the "if Zayn loses he leaves" stipulation actually matter
>4.75 stars
Also, Zayn's match against Cesaro got 4.25.
Leltz has shit taste sometimes
>>2566408
Why didn't Le Meltz give this 5 stars? Because it didn't have flippyshit and actually had ring psychology?
>>2566921
>I've never watched New Japan but I'm upset it gets highly-rated matches
Hmm.
>finisher spam
>ring psychology
>>2564155
Apparently you don't remember the old Jewish grandma running into the ring to attack Cena.
>>2565790
Cena vs Rollins? Rollins vs Dean in that nothing Lumberjack match? Shelton vs HBK? Angle vs HBK? Pretty much.
>>2566933
>german suplexes and Goldberg's spear
>finishers
Also, its Brock fucking Lesnar and Gooooooooooldberg, just those 2 names make a match 1 million times better than your gook shitfest
Ciampa v gargano cwc was easy 5
>>2567507
Show me a move in the whole match that wasn't a spear, jackhammer, german suplex, or f5.
I'll wait.
Also I timed it. Undercarder's entrance was longer than this match.
>>2567529
Undertaker's entrance is longer than a superb owl halftime show
>>2567529
WOW,wrestling moves are used in a wrestling ring.Who would of thought? How's that possible? They should've blown kisses to eachother or uhhh I don't know, dance?
So after all,are Goldberg spear and Brock's suplexes finishers huh, buddy?
>>2566933
Where did he mention NJPW?
Based anti-smarks living in this low-iq plebs head
Overlooked as fuck tbf. It had everything.
>>2564770
Not It's H worth 4.
Gargano didn't sell much and when he did it was bad, he also botched a lot of moves especially the ending.
>>2564163
Marked out in this match
Here's my favourite match
honorable mentions:
- Jericho - Michaels at Unforgiven 2008
- Undertaker - Michaels at Wrestlemania 25
- Undertaker - Michaels at Wrestlemania 26
- DIY - Revival at Takeover
- Owens - Zayn at Battleground
>>2566476
GOAT
Goddamn I loved this match.
>>2568396
What match is this?
>>2566443
Have sex
>>2568437
Invasion
Edge getting eliminated in the first 5 minutes was incredible and the match kept getting better as time went on.
>>2568829
Didn't they steal that idea from Heyman?
>>2564194
MAYBE
>>2568829
This was the first PPV I payed for and watched live.
>>2564155
>Only memorable because of botchy celebshit interference finish
>5 stars
Choose only one, noodlehead
>>2569330
Great crowd, mediocre match.
>>2564194
>>2568907
DID SOMEBODY SAY
M A Y B E ??
>>2567615
Came here to post this. Basically the most perfect match the two of them ever did. They were never going to give it to Dean at this time so that ending was a close to a tie as it gets, which was fine with me.
>>2564234
>Two anti draws front and center
Should've been Ramen and Big Dave
>>2564143
DBry vs Bray Royal Rumble
>>2569541
Nah. While RVD is just being RVD, Cena heels it up well and plays the crowd like a fiddle. Good match, but it's nowhere near great.
Literally the only good main-roster match in the past 3 years.
>>2569878
I think there are 5* matches for the actual wrestling, and 5* matches for the atmosphere/storytelling.
5* atmosphere/storytelling examples Cena-RVD, Cena-Punk (MITB), Rock-Hogan, Shane-Vince, Bret-Austin, Hogan-Warrior, Rock-Austin (mania 17).
5* wrestling examples are a couple of Angle-Benoit matches, Bret-Shawn (mania), Lesnar-Eddie, Angle-Lesnar (SD), and of course pretty much every flippy shit match. But none of these had unforgettable atmospheres.
When they come together, 5* in both categories, then that is what I would unironically call a 6* match. And by that standard I can only think of one true example in WWE - Angle v Shawn at mania.
>>2569941
Austin-Hart must be a 7* match then.
>>2569941
>I think there are 5* matches for the actual wrestling, and 5* matches for the atmosphere/storytelling.
I think that's bullshit because storytelling is integral part of "actual wrestling" regardless of the crowd's reaction or the amount of flips and german suplexes you do. None of your examples are 5 star matches except Bret-Austin. Fuck Angle vs. Shawn, the story was eh and the action wasn't that good.
>>2569952
5* atmosphere
3* action at best. mostly a shitty brawl, just sprinkled with a couple of good chair shots. at least that's how i remember it.
Actually I take back the previous post. Even Angle-Shawn didn't make the cut.
4* atmosphere - good but not on the level of the absolute best
5* wrestling
>>2569955
>Fuck Angle vs. Shawn
One of the most overrated matches ever, and I'm a massive Shawn mark.
At least no one posted an Edge singles match.
>>2569957
Like nearly all big Angle matches after awhile, it had weak transitions and a lack of selling. The first third of the match goes nowhere, abandoning what was done to do whatever. A typical WWE main event style epic with overblown drama and big move trading that ends with an overly long Ankle lock segment. Both guys had better matches with other people.
>>2570005
He could have been so great had he worked with Bret Hart instead of Chris Benoit. I think that's where he really went to shit.
>>2570029
>blaming Benoit for what Angle turned into
Benoit had plenty of great matches that weren't spotfests, including a couple with Angle. Kurt just fell in love with the Rumble match and the response to it.
>caring about Smeltzer ratings
Fuck that nigga. That Seth match is definitely not a 5 star either. Nothing with such a fuck finish could be that high, i was a yuge Seff mark at the time too but that just soured an otherwise great match.
Pic Related i just re-watched. Def A 5 Star match right here.
>>2564160
Fair enough. That was actually a pretty damn good match.
>>2566933
He never mentioned NJPW
>>2567615
Was at the building when this happened.
Wasn't anything special
Pic related.
But these stand out in recent memory
>Dean Ambrose vs. Kevin Owens - Last Man Standing match at Royal Rumble 2016
>Dolph Ziggler vs. The Miz - Career Match at No Mercy 2016
>AJ Styles vs. John Cena (All of them)
>>2571789
Shit, forgot the picture.
>>2565027
>Yeah, if this wasn't a 5 Star match the term has no meaning for tag team wrestling.
Dave just doesn't care enough about tag to rate properly. He gave the three main matches in this series (the 2 DIY/Revival then the 3 way with AoP) the same score, when the first was a clear 4.5, the 2/3 was a 4.75 minimum and the last was a 4.25 at best.
Dave gave it 4.75.
I can't think of anything else this match needed to get 5 stars except getting a blowjob from Steph at ringside.
Eddie/Rey Halloween Havoc 97' I think
