Austin said on his podcast before he was pissed at Owen for a long while, especially since Vince had Owen do the old Valentine/Wahoo gimmick but Bret and others in the back told him that Owen was really shocked because he prided himself on being one of the safest hands to work with (That angle where he "concussed" HBK with an enzugiri was because Vince trusted Owen a lot to pull it off) and everyone loved working with him on house shows because he'd have fun with it like trying to make the guy he was working with corpse (Including Taker) and working light matches with lots of safe comedy spots. Owen felt really ashamed and embarrassed a massive injury like that to the companies biggest star happened because of one moment of being sloppy so he couldn't bring himself to apologise (And Owen had really begun thinking of retiring at that point and not resigning before Montreal happened). Austin was still a bit pissed because he never got an apology but I think it was Taker who eventually told Austin to let it slide because everyone else in the company saw it as a freak accident because Owen didn't work sloppy and even though Austin protested the move, everyone was convinced Owen would land it safe.

I'd imagine he was feeling devestated like everyone else. He'd worked with Owen a few times after and going off what little Austin said about it. He sorta understood why Owen was embarrassed and never brought it up.

D'Lo Brown at least had the human decency to still feel and show extreme guilt afterwards. He apologized profusely to Droz and even considered retiring from wrestling immediately before Jim Ross had a very long talk with him convincing him not to quit

D'Lo did a shoot interview years after that happened......when Droz was brought up you could actually still see the guilt and the shame on his face when talking about that incident
