From 2002 to ~2005 he was just a generic MMA strong style guy with no real gimmick. Then he did like a year long excursion to Mexico and had to get over with the Mexican crowd so he came up with the "Freddie Mercury/Michael Jackson that can kick your ass" gimmick because he's a shoot fan of them. He didn't really tun up the gimmick to what it is now until he turned heel in 2009 and formed Chaos. He still has those cocky heel mannerisms but it works for him as a babyface as well just because he has so much natural magnetism and charisma.

I've liked SDL the most until mania (fucking Bray+Orton was The Cuckening). wasnt the whole thing that he composed the music but he wasn't technically allowed to under his label so he did it uncredited under another name? same thing with the simpsons episode he did, and the same reason that in that episode even though he provided the voice, they had to get an impersonator to do the singing in that episode because his label wasnt allowing him to work outside their scope.

I do know sone people are up in arms about some of the stages that are specificially from a certain past title though and how they aren't using the original tracks.
