Vince is actually using the separate brands to try out different booking ideas. He wants to see which ideas work better. So picking a side could somewhat change the direction of WWE. It won't be massive changes, but changes are being made. They test out different ways to film the show (camera angles, segment types, pacing, etc.), different booking decisions (storyline builds, how to present women, how much to protect wrestlers), all kinds of things.
