I wonder if you sperg out whenever a wrestler gets irish whipped too. It has to be the most frequent used, ubiquitous wrestling maneuver that's also blatantly unrealistic. You really think there's anything believable about getting grabbed by the arm and pushed towards the ropes and then fucking running back and forth without missing a step, bouncing off the ropes from the sheer momentum of the irish whip?

Practically everything you see in wrestling wouldn't actually work in a real fight, and it's all really obvious too. Even the stuff that wasn't necessarily obvious at one point is obvious now by virtue of MMA's popularity and mainstream exposure. Nobody's lasting in an ankle lock, and armbar or a rear naked choke for more than a couple of seconds without either tapping our or sustaining a serious injury. Oh, and you clearly have to actually guard your face with your hands in a real fight too, you're not just gonna stand there refusing to defend yourself while the other guy throws bombs at you, and if you do, your face is going to be FUCKED UP. Don't even get me started on chops. That's one of the most absurd things that happens all the time in practically every wrestling style and Cornette cocksuckers like you never say a thing about it.

It's fucking dumb to complain about wrestling not being realistic enough. You can't complain about canadian destroyers without complaining about this shit too.

In a fight, getting hit like this would be mildly irritating, and it would be very difficult to land. The point is to inflict fight-ending damage on your opponent, usually through concussive shots to the jaw and cranium that lead to a KO, or accumulative damage to vulnerable areas of the body (floating ribs, solar plexus, liver, etc).

I guess the MMA equivalent of a chop is the leg-kick: striking a thick, meaty part of the body to accumulate damage. The problem with the former is that you must come well within countering range to throw it, and you'll probably end up catching an elbow with the back of your hand and eating a counter shot.
