Punches and kicks are literally the fundamental moves of a wrestling match, if you aren't amazingly skilled at punches and kicks you have no business finishing with them. Especially when it's obviously guys who are too uncreative or skilled to have a real finisher.

Tajiri is an example of someone who could pull it off because his kicks were amazing and the Buzzsaw looked like a fucking life ender. RVD, Punk and Booker T also had great kicks and probably could have had strike finishers but they didn't because they weren't lazy fucks, they were just guys who had amazing kicks as part of their moveset.

RVD has a beautiful sobat kick, which when you throw in a steel chair makes for a believable finisher in the Van Daminator. Otherwise, yeah, it's a good thing his strikes never rose above signature material.

Belly-to-bellies just don't look impactful, they're just a very standard, bland maneuver.
Rock Bottom has them coming crashing down on their back in a way that SEEMS more damaging. Kinda the implied bump.

Anyone who doubts strikes don't know RVD or Tajiri. Holy fuck, watching ECW on TNN as a youngin back in the day was the best. Tajiri kicks were the most vicious things in wrestling at the time. Super Crazy sold them like decapitations. The Super Crazy/Tajiri feud in ECW is still one of the my favorite things of all time. Those matches were other worldly.
