Most people who say something """"""""obviously"""""""" looks fixed haven't actually seen fixed MMA fights. They weren't as prevalent as people believe, the way you build people up is setting their opponents up to fail. Like, get the guy you want to lose be relatively new, make him take a test or blood test when he gets there, give him a weeks worth of training at most and you've set the guy you want to win up with an easy fight.

Of course, this shit fails all the time, Fedor is the HW GOAT and he was initially supposed to be brought in to lose to Herring. Commentators didn't even know his name and he blew their number 1 contender the fuck out.

It's happened before in pride and ufc but it's rare, watch some old pancreas fights and compare them to UWF and you'll easily pick out the fights that are a work.

Wrestling has different rules than MMA. For one thing you cannot lie on your opponent and pound away for 3 minutes. Boxing matches and hockey fights are just as "real" as MMA and fights look totally different because the rules are different. You can make pro wrestling look real by doing things where wrestlers don't seem to be cooperating to ridiculous levels.

Suplexes, for example, push believability, but you can suspend disbelief by thinking wrestlers are super strong. Jumping around constantly exposes the business because you have to ignore the core wrestling fact that leaving your feet leaves you vulnerable leverage wise.
