Triple H has never drawn ONE SINGLE DIME you fucking EDRONE. HHH and Cena CRASHED WWE ratings.

And if we're being honest here, Austin should be above Hogan. Austin is the top draw of all-time, followed by Hogan and then The Rock.

Bret is accurate, he in fact, rounds the top 5.

>I'm a big fan of Bret Hart, but HHH has drawn tons more money than Hart. One was the top guy during $80 million years and the other was the top guy during $375-425 million years.

>(HHH) would be only behind Rock, Austin, Hogan and Flair. For total PPV money drawn, he'd be well ahead of Flair. Hart nor Flair ever headlined a PPV show that came close to the interest level of 2002 Rumble. And everyone in the company will credit HHH's return to the buy rate of that rumble, even though it was years after the peak of the company, it still beat out every rumble during the peak years.

>HHH was never the draw Austin or Rock were. But here in San Jose, HHH drew the biggest crowd for a house show in the history of Northern California when neither Austin nor Rock were on the show (HHH & Rikishi vs. Angle & Kane, and it was clear HHH was the star of that show). When Hart was on top, there was never a period he could draw more than half of what HHH was drawing on his own at his peak, for a regular house show.

>Hart was never a big ratings guy. HHH's best run in Canada blows away Hart's best run in Canada for live gates.

All his idea too

>"Worst call I've ever made other than refusing to job to Brock Lesnar at Atlanta. But, you know, that was my idea. Vince always likes to do something big at Wrestlemania. He didn't have anything big planned. So, me being The Rocket scientist that I am, I figured okay. You're a hot babyface, and if you turn heel, you're a hot ass heel to draw money like that. Or vice versa. By and large that is true for the most part if the time is right to turn. Well clearly the time wasn't right for me to turn

One of the dumbest mistakes from a talent of all time, quite possibly the worst. Rumble, No Way Out, WM buys were all up big from 2000 and then he turns heel and it's all over.

There were obviously other factors like the horrible invasion angle (which again austin was heel for), but his heel turn was an immediate massive failure. It was also horrible because it was at the same time The Rock left

The first PPV after his heel turn (Backlash) lost 300,000 buys from the previous year (which in 2000 the main draw was Austin would be returning there as a face). Huge drop

HHH was never the top guy, even in the years when he was supposedly the top guy.

Positioning yourself to be booked against whoever is the top draw at the time does not mean you are responsible for drawing any of those dimes.

Bret on the other hand is almost the reverse of this situation. He was handed the title on three separate occasions when the previous champ had caused ratings to sink. Bret picked up the title and turned the down trend into an uptick on three straight occasions. There is a graph that shows this, but I don't have it it saved.

Of course, Meltzer has to attribute the dimes to Paul, otherwise he would be blackballed from the biz.
>>
>>2302650
Both of them only ever cut one good promo each.
HBK: Who's your daddy montreal
Bret: This is bullshit

And the post is about drawing dimes. hbgay never drew a dime. The shitman at least drew some pennies.

If your talking about the steroid trial that's false, the prosecution called him as the star witness after getting immunity and then he went back on everything he said on the stand

http://www.angelfire.com/fl2/SpiritoholicsI/hogan.html , example

>Government: Did Patterson tell you not to use steroids? Terry B: No.
>Government: What did Vince McMahon say?
>Terry B: Don't use or call him.

why are you putting words in his mouth?

Not once has he said "hogan was a bigger overall draw than austin" or vice versa. All he has said is Austin had the much bigger peak and Hogan had the much better longevity. He was saying the same shit today
>>
>>2303178
This, Austin/Hogan should always be 1/2 and Cena/Dwayne should be 3/4. To rank them it depends on if you value longevity or peak more
>>
>>2302642
Swap Bret with hbk and you are correct
>>
>>2302750
Its a meme.

Ratings were like a stone falling before Austin even turned heel. Even the invasion didn't raise the ratings and neither did Austin turning face.

The simple truth is wrestling was really just a passing fad and it wasn't popular anymore.
>>
>>2303237
Short term is what matters. Peak Austin > Peak Hogan.

Cena could be around for 50 years and outdraw them both by sheer longevity but it doesn't mean he was a bigger draw than Austin or Hogan.
>>
>>2303294
>Ratings were like a stone falling before Austin even turned heel. Ratings were like a stone falling before Austin even turned heel. Even the invasion didn't raise the ratings

Not true at all. http://www.gerweck.net/tv-ratings/2000-ratings/ and http://www.gerweck.net/tv-ratings/2001-ratings/

From October 2000-April 2001 (Austin was heel for the April shows), ratings were consistently in the high 4.0s and low 5.0s. Then a month later, 4.5, 4.5, 4.3, 4.1, 4.2, etc. The inVasion angle slightly boosted ratings (see: July 15-August 19) and then it fell again. The last time WWF did a 4.2 rating before Austins heel turn that wasn't a Christmas show was November 30, 1998.

The combination of Austins heel turn and Rock leaving at the same time as a disaster. There was interest in the angle for a month (5.0+ ratings for a straight month), and then people just stopped caring

I love this revisionist history. Steves heel turn was a disaster in every way for both business and his character and everyone agrees on it including Austin himself

https://twitter.com/davemeltzerWON/status/827800146050101249

>Austin's heel turn was a huge factor. Basically killed the boom

if you watch meltzers wm17 review on a lapsed fan he talks about it and he said he knew immediately business would fall off a cliff
>>
>>2303297
The question is, is the gap between peak austin and peak hogan as big of a gap as fifteen more years of drawing for hogan?

If you say yes, i really can't debate you. It's all about what you prefer more at this point
>>
Vince really thought Austin joining the McMahon-Helmsley faction would create a ratings boom like Hogan joining the nWo..

Though the 2 man power trip wasn't a bad team, Rock/Jericho and the Brothers of Dimes Destruction weren't the right top faces for them to go up against.
