That's true. I remember going from one school with strict ass 4 square rules like no over handing, side handing, fisting, overhead, and many others to a school with the most basic rules and just about everything was allowed. I've tried playing with 8 before. A couple of friends and I tried it in P.E. once and we had set it up to be a team death match thing. I don't remember the rules we set up though. I just know that it was really competitive.

Our 8 squares was every man or woman for themselves. Tense matches between King and whoever was in the last square were frequent.
We had shit like "supers" which were really low bouncing power hits where you had to be careful as fuck not to scrape your hand across the ground to try and return
