main thing why so many people follow WWE in my country (Cena came here to make publicity and he was laughed at) is because although Argentina has a big wrestling tradition it was always aimed to small kids, and I don't mean the >manchildren meme, I mean it didn't have any of the double-standard thing WWE had and heels and faces were much more static.
This is 100% Lucha from Argentina

that is a match between the two biggest rivals, Vicente Viloni (big Face) and La Masa (big Heel, but everyone always rooted for him, even little kids who were supposed to be scared cheered for the guy as he killed faces)
Vintage argie Wrestling:
This was Titanes En El Ring (Titans on the Ring)

People were crazy over this stuff back in the day, literally they sold out every saturday during the 70s-80s
Both 100% Lucha and Titanes en el Ring were big on the gimmicks.

Vicente Viloni was kind of the John Cena here. Biggest face, other "heroes" included a Pizza Delivery Guy, a Ghanian warrior, and Hip Hop wigger.
Biggest Heels were La Masa, a scottish warrior, a dutch heavy metal guy, a US military dude and a turk.
Funny thing is all the heels ended up being the children's favorites by far. La Masa and Dutch guy literally had to start high fiving kids because of how much they cheered for them

Vicente Viloni was more Tanahashi than Cena.
My favorite was La Masa and i wanted him as the first Undisputed Champion. Fucking VILONIWINSLOLXD.
