Any UFC fans here that also watch wrestling?
I've been losing alot of interest in WWE due to the shit bookings and writers and want to know if it would be an easy transition from wrestling to UFC, seeing how the basic principle of fighting are seen in both companies I figured it would be easy to be a fan of both.

Other wrestling promotions don't appeal to me.

depends on why you watch. Wrestling is performance art and athleticism, UFC is a combat sport. you watch each with seperate expectations and you're looking for different things while watching.

nowadays my god damn moments are almost always from UFC, only thing WWE wrestlers are good at is absolutely savage BTFO´s of anyone who dares to work there

I used to be mad into wrestling and now I'm primarily an MMA guy, though watching promotions not the WWE or TNA has actually helped me appreciate a lot of pro wrestling again. I think you can be a fan of both but I've personally found that it's a bit harder to be invested in obviously choreographed loose exchanges when you've gotten used to the grit of the real thing. Anyway here's a few things to keep in mind when you go watch MMA:

You know how there's a ton of shit wrestling matches? Well there's also a ton of shit MMA matches and there's nothing anyone can do about that. Hell there's a ton of shit matches in any sport. If you go in expecting blood and guts wars every single fight you're gonna be dissapointed. I do think it's more justified in MMA where the two dudes are trying to actually put the hurt on eachother rather than in the performance art of pro wrestling though.

It gets better the more you watch. When you first start it might not seem all that great unless you luck into a good event, but the more you watch the more you're gonna appreciate the technical aspects of the game and how everything ties together. It might at times look sloppy and raw and ugly, but that's what fighting is. Only a few really good people can make it seem smooth. Commentary is actually pretty good at breaking down what the fighters are doing and you'll start to pick up on all of the unique combinations and situations the ruleset allows for.

Tying into the last two points, legitimate grappling is a huge part of MMA and can turn the new viewer off. A lot of it is used to stall for points in the judges' scorecards so cries of it just being ground humping are not entirely innacurate, but stick with it and it'll get better. There can be a lot of activity when it comes to grappling, a lot of exciting stuff like ground scrambles for position that look smoother than chain wrestling or those crazy moments when someone suddenly snatches up an unexpected submission.

the booking of UFC are shit too.
droping intrem titles everywhere, the champions are paper champs, people getting titles matches just from trash talk and not from their rankings.
don't get the wrong idea, MMA is great, RIZIN, Bellator and ONE are doing a great job on deliver real entertainment.
UFC is like WWE, its fun to watch the big PPV events some times. but if you will start to follow and dig deep into the politics and how the system runs, your brain would melt into shit.

I watch both. I think it's an easy transition for the most part. The (sometimes) unpredictability is really great, and easier to follow since there aren't any storylines like wrestling. I've been watching MMA since about 2001 and have loved it since. I stopped watching wrestling for a couple of years, and was completely lost when watching it again. With MMA, you're fine if you don't watch it for a little while because it's easy to pick it back up and not be confused. Give it a shot. The best thing that can happen is enjoying it, maybe even more than wrestling. The worst is that you won't like it.

There is just an oversaturation of WWE at the moment. You have NXT, RAW, Smackdown and 2 PPVs a month. The shows consist of matches between the small pool of talent and it gets old. And you need to watch/read them all if you want to keep up with whats going on. With MMA, you can jump in and the story of the fight is unnecessary, where as with wrestling the match is connected so much to the buildup. And there are breaks between peoples fights, so they aren't in your face all the time. It's nice.

>not an over saturated MMA market

You are such a newfag it hurts to read this

I watch both. No reason to pick one over the other.

Although the last Rizin GP was a harmonious union of WWE-level theatrics with real MMA fighting.
