Are they both universally beloved?

yes Stone Cold and Homer are iconic characters
The only wrestlers that are known by normal people are Rock and Orton.
Maybe also Taker and Mysterio.
Those two in the pic are literal who's

Remember when wrestlers would wear street clothes instead of their official merchandise?

Rey Mysterio is incredibly famous. To the mainstream/public, Rey Mysterio is representative of "lucha wrestling" or any other stereotypes about wrestling and masks.
I would say that the only wrestlers known to the mainstream/general public are (in no order): Undertaker, John Cena, The Rock, Stone Cold, Vince McMahon, Hulk Hogan, Brock Lesnar, Macho Man Randy Savage, Rey Mysterio, Goldberg, Bret Hart.
It's hard to gauge exactly how popular Goldberg is in the mainstream because his fire burned hot at wrestling's biggest time, but for a very short time. For many alive today they mightn't know of him. He only had about 2 somewhat relevant movies (Longest Yard, and Santa Slay).
John Cena and Macho Man both entered meme status. Macho Man also has a famous role in an iconic, revolutionary movie (Spider-Man). Cena has a few B-movies here and there.
Bret Hart wasn't a draw but for some reason he was famous in pop culture. His colours/look makes him memorable I guess. He was maybe the first wrestler to be a meme (Macho Man became a meme later in his career). Somehow Bret Hart even ended up on The Simpsons. That probably helped his mainstream legacy more than anything else.
To the general mainstream, Stone Cold isn't really relevant anymore. If anyone in the general public, especially non-wrestling fans, speaks or know of him they're most likely age of them would be 25-30 or older, so there's enough people older than 30 to suggest SCSA is still iconic to the general public. SCSA is beloved to anyone who properly knows him but on a general scale, he's now less iconic than Rock only because Rock entered the proper mainstream celebrity stratusphere.

Marty Jannetty is the chorus of an Action Bronson song, thus is more relevant to the mainstream/public than Yawn Michaels ever was

They are both beloved by mainstream, casual fans, yes
HBK isn't universally beloved even in the wrestling bubble. He's one of the most hated people in the business by those within the business and many people enjoy him as a performer but don't like how he is as a person.
>>2035524
This.
Everyone hated HBGay's guts so he went with a "born again Christian" gimmick.
Sadly people actually got worked by it.

Good for Shawn. Most wrestlers and people in general are complete faggots. Shawn is loved by the people who matter: Vince, HHH, and a select other few.
Shawn doesn't have the burden of having to be friends with a bunch of lowlife wrestlers.
>>2035531
Uh he's working at the performance center mate. He'll be around lowlifes all day.
