We always think he's gonna have a great match, but it's usually overhyped crap. Even though he's pretty athletic, his matches have always lacked a sense of smoothness and actual ring psychology. Always either true vanilla midget or a lame dad.

For me personally, when I judge a wrestler's work as good or great, I always look for one thing - Replay value. Like if you viewed a match after 10 years, it still was just as great as it was live. In my opinion, Phil matches had a ton of replay value and therefore that makes him a great wrestler.

You're not wrong. The best matches he ever had were only really decent and not great, and he was always carried by a better wrestler. Maybe it's becuase he started learning to wrestle later in his life than most, but the guy could just never move around the ring with ease. Everything he did looked so wooden and sluggish, from the way he bumped to the way he executed the majority of his moveset. Basically, the only moves he could pull off well where the his spinebuster and his sitout powerbomb. Everything else he did in the ring was shit.
