You need an opening to initiate a grapple.
If he tried it he would've gotten wrecked in the first round. There was a promo workout session with the two of them in some basketball court. Eddie was doing takedowns while Conor was doing faster knee counters. Eddie wouldn't have a nose anymore if he committed to a takedown game
