Jannetty may have been the Jannetty of the rockers but HBK was the no-draw Jannetty of the attitude era (he figuratively got kicked through the window by Austin to start the attitude era).

He kept getting clipped for drugs and other bullshit and just fell off the face of the Earth. But every child on this board uses it like the /tv/ meme JUST...they don't even use it right since every single person they lable an -etty is gainfully employed and typically has a championship belt.

I would guess that HBK could have gotten Marty a job if he wanted to but probably didn't have his back because he didn't want to be pulled into a feud with him. Probably a great business decision that also ruined Marty's career.

The Rockers were a classic midget tag team: they specialised in double team high risk manouvres - even entering and exiting the ring together in sync. And in fact Shawn was usually the guy to play ricky morton and it was Janetty who would get the hot tag and rescue the match.

Then for whatever backstage reason, Shawn became this hot new prospect and in the infamous Brutus' barbershop segment, he super kicked Janetty through the plate glass window and ended the Rockers.

After that, Janetty was left in the lower midcard with newer guys like X Pac, and got dropped, while Shawn became HBK and a title contender.

After leaving WWF, you'd see sporadic pics of Janetty looking like a drugs wreck and wrestling in gyms. It was the most stark contrast in fortunes between two guys who were once at the exact same point in the industry. With hindsight we now know they were both fuck ups, but Shawn got protection from Vince. But they are both Janettys.
