I think for most gyms it just shows how long and consistently someone has been attending classes.

If I had my own McDojo I'd do my cuckbelts like this:

To graduate from the first belt to the next, there's a specific set of moves you have to master. McDojo sensei gives the white cuckbelt a paper with a list of shit like "armbar from mount," "escape from rear naked choke," "jab-to-uppercut striking series," etc.

So if you come in and can pass all the tests or show you know all the moves, you can advance a belt.

I would do stripes for "time in grade" like every 6 months you get a stripe.

so what if you git gud but don't take any belt tests but have been there 10 yrs? is it like having 99 strength and 1 attack on runescape?
