You know what this means right? For many people Raw is the "oh well nothing else is on" show, the moment there's any sort of alternative to watching Raw they lose viewers by the hundreds of thousands. It's nothing surprising though, unless you're a big wrestling fan why would ANYONE even consider watching Raw? It's simply nowhere near up to par with the quality of TV shows these days.

Back in the 80s, they weren't repeating the same matches on national television on a weekly basis. They were touring around on local TV and shit to give everyone a taste and set up for the PPV, and then EVERYONE could see the blowoff on PPV.

Nowadays, with every consumer watching every week, you can't do the same shit for months on end and expect people to keep watching.

That's really Vince's ONLY ability. Obviously a good one to have, but he's always been a savvy businessman, and NEVER had a single fucking clue what to do with the actual wrestling part of his product. Imagine what would happen with wrestlers once WWE goes off TV, nobody would want to sign. It can be kind of corny, but it's usually really fun.

The first part of the first season was kind of bland, because they apparently had some immigration and visa issues with some of the important wrestlers, but it REALLY gets fucking sweet at and beyond the first Aztec Warfare.

The best part of LU is that they manage a good balance of action and story, and there isn't much wasted movement. There's a TV Show Style backstage segment (with excellent cinematography considering this is basically a cheesy B movie) that sets up some angle for a match, and then they have a match that moves the angle along, and the matches are USUALLY at least decent. Except for Kobra Moon, the worst you'll likely see is a spotfest.

Just don't go into it expect some WWE or ROH style pantomime of actual sport. It's a live action anime. In a one backstage segment, Prince Puma, who is the anthropomorphic personification of some Aztec god or another, got annoyed and punched clean through a punching bag (complete with corny cougar growl pasted over it). In another, Sexy Star, who is a 150 lbs woman, was deadlifting 3playt (ostensibly 315 lbs, though the plates were obviously gimmicked), got riled up through the segment, and started banging out goddamn bicep curls with that 3playt.

And Aerostar can literally travel through time. It's basically an anime. Which is fine, you just can't expect any different.

Literally the only good part of the Owens/Rollins "feud" is knowing that it's just a stepping stone for the inevitable Owens/Jericho feud. Shame that we have to suffer through Rollins attempting to talk on par with Owens before we get two of the best talkers/workers in the company to have one of the best feuds in recent years.
