There once were threads on /asp/
that featured alternative sports and skates.
All were happy, informed, and free
for they were able to discuss without hate.
Jap moot saw this place, and was angry upon what was seen
furious at their joys, he decided to seal their fate.
"Come! Men of drama and shitpost from /woo/ and /sp/!"
"This shall be your home, your realm, and your keep!".
So they came in mass, transforming the board intent to make their own
"Have sex!","Gain height!", said the mexican reverend and foreign followers, "For you and us are now sewn!".
The natives of this board resisted, calling foul play and a unjust judgment they were condoned
but their pleas of woe and sorrow heeded no answer, for they were to few in number to make atone.
And so it was that the newcomers claimed their land and prospered, old remnants dispersed and others fostered.
Post riddled with ugly wrenches, spandex man bottoms, and other various impostors.
Happy were the current populous, for new age of man drama finally a new home in old necropolis.
"Take a shower, Hit the weights, Get a clue!" they said.
"For we are the new masters with power and the old /asp/ is dead!".
This might be a lost cause but lets have a Inline thread.
I'm going to dump some old webms.
>>1891865
I'll be honest, I'm only here for /wwe/ but I still follow bmx. I never see any posts on it, but check the skate threads for gifs.
Could you imagine if someone rolled up to a skatepark today on blades? Not hating but holy fuck I'd imagine you'd get some looks
>>1892105
You do get looks, but only to people who have never seen it before.
After a while once you become a regular at the skatepark, you'll make friends (Skateboards, Scooter, Bmx, whatever) and it becomes a standard affair.
Or, at least that was my experience.
>>1892122
I honest to god thought the sport died. Like nobody doing it. I grew up w plenty friends who had senate boots and all that. Hell I could even soul grind (i think thats the name?) Didn't even know they still made boots.
Again, nothing against it.
>>1892157
No offence taken. It lost popularity after the turn of century do to various factors (It was combination of others ridiculing us, and our own try hard attitude that responded to that ridicule). Now its we just a small (slow growing) community compared to other wheeled sports. Most bladers are a much older crowd which is a good and bad thing. Also quite a lot of boots to choose from.
Well it's time for me to head out. Guess their there is no one to talk to right now, save the bmx dude. Here the old OP post that was made for the general back when we still had those.

>It lost popularity after the turn of century do to various factors
Was it being gay as fuck one of them?
>>1892558
So i'm back, guess i'll continue onward.
Whats your setup? I bought a pair of those skinless valos after years on the Haffey remz.
>>1893500
Don't really like the feel of carbons. Plus the souls is super slow and really hate slow soul plates. But they works well for communing.
So i got K2s which does park duty and have much better souls, but the souls themselves are smaller so it's pretty difficult to do cess slides which i love doing.
K2s are really stiff and take like a month to break in, also topside tricks on square ledges are harder. But they are comfy for my feet so i don't mind.
>>1893500
Also forgot to say, how are you liking them Valos? I've aways brushed them for something else
Gonna go to bed. Good night to the other 6 people that posted.
>>1893519
for £100 I really dont think they can be beat in terms of quality. I dont get to skate a lot these days due to work and life ect so I needed something cheap and cheerful and these really delivered. Taking time to get used to though, as you can probably guess they are a lot stiffer than the remz
>>1891865
i cri evertim ;_;
bootiful
>>1891865
Senpai if you want to start a discussion don't just dump webms. Either way this looks gay as fuck. Can't imagine why anybody would spend the time to git gud.
>>1891865
Just wanted to say I love you dude, enjoy your passion. These wrestling fans are just doing the same. No reason we can't live in harmony. Some cool webms here!

Thanks friends.
bump..
>>1895006
Jeeze, when he lands that it looks so sick. Can see how much it hurts missing it though hah.
Realistically, once you land that once, is it easier to hit a second time? Like; what percentage is he actually making that trick.. 5%? 50%?
>>1895550
depens, most spots they usually "get it" but its not cool looking enough so they keep going for the perfect shot
Recently got the chance to try out rollerblades for around an hour in an empty skate park and on the trip back to my mates house.
I enjoyed it quite a lot and am considering getting a pair
Are there any brands I should look for as a beginner looking to get a lot of use/practice
>>1898667
What type of rollerblades are we talking here? Aggressive, recreational?
>>1898896
I'd mainly be doing recreational/fitness with the occasional vist to the skate park .I'd like to get into Aggressive but my nearest park is quite a distance away so I wouldnt be able to visit as much as I'd like to.
>>1898908
For Recreational, looking into the following brands: K2, Rollerblade(The Company), Seba, Adapt Skates, Roces, Powerslide, DOOP (owned by Poweslide), Fila, Flying Eagle Skates, and Reverse Skates.
Keep in mind some these skate may be harder to acquire deepening on where you live. Powersilde, Fila and Flying Eagle are mostly sold in Europe and China for instance, but is possible to get them in the U.S.
Check here >>1892550 for stores nearest to you. For now you should worry getting skate maneuvering down here a good video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8Gs_eyIPFA
For aggressive skating you first need to get your maneuvering down first ( Riding, transitioning ,and accelerating Foward and Backwards), before even attempting to grind or jump off a ramp. Also buy proper aggro skates as well if plan to learn it, as doing aggressive and technical stuff on normal Rec or Freestyle skates is something only advance level skaters do.
Could also give you some info on a specific model of skate if one catches your eye.
>>1898951
Cheers for the advice
I'll give those brands a look and get back to you if the thread is still up.
Why is Frootie Booting popular in the UK?
>>1901749
It's more popular outside the U.S. in general. In other countries, blading never really got the stigma that it got in the U.S.
Or at least that is my theory.
Anyone in London for aggressive?
>>1902098
>K2 Eco
>Rollerblade Igniter 90
These are near identical as they are strictly for recreational use. These are softshell skates in which comfort and light weight is priority. They sacrifice ankle support for mobility.
They are good if just want to go from point A to point B comfortably. You do not want jump in them or thrash them to hard, as they will break.
Even though i'm more inclined to K2 skates, The Igniter 90 is the better of the two with a better frame and bearings (SG7s bearings can last for months)
>K2 Midtown
One of my favorite skates. This skate is a cross between aggressive and recreational. The boot is from a aggressive skate and the frame a standard UFS (but also rockerable) 80mm frame.
The is also a soft boot, but ankle support is much more beefed up. Almost everyone in a the aggressive world agree that this is the most comfortable aggro skate.
I skate the aggressive version of these and they are a exceptional, lasted nearly a year of skating hard (still riding them).
The these also have a modest soul plate so you can do grinds on, changing the frame with a aggressive frame will give a good a really good starter aggressive skate.
Build quality is really good on these, though the included bearings are not great on these and will need to be changed after a some time. Best of both worlds for anyone looking into both types of skating.
>Other skates
>Rollerblade Twister 80
>Rollerblade 2015 RB80
>SEBA FRX 80
>Powerslide Imperial
>Powerslide Metropolis
>Roces Vidi
>Roces X35
They are a hard shell design and are near indestructible. Offer the most maneuverability but their fit and comfort is more picky and some boots might not work for some. These are traditional Inline skates.
I also HIGLY recommend learn how ride with out a brake. Brakes are detrimental to the learning process and gives bad skating techniques. There are plenty of videos on youtube to learn how to stop/slow down without it. Also get a helmet at least.
>>1902953
Thanks for the advice I am definitely considering the K2 Midtown as I did want to dabble in a bit of both then have an option to change the frame at a later time.
I'll check out the other recommended skates
Is it possible to convert my regular frooty booties to do maaad grinds?
>>1903391
Yes. I've seen old shitty rec skates frankensteined to do grinds with modern soul plates and liners, but you need tools like a dremel, screws, and a senes of humor to do it. Its not really worth the time or effort except for laughs.
Or just dick around and use what little soul space that thing has. That how aggressive skated started, you know?
>>1903524
Thanks mane, I'll just get a pair of aggressive skates instead.
Might be a cool project to do in the future if I got the time converting those recs to functional agressives
What the fuck is this shit? Please I am desperately pleading with you, seek sunlight

Has anyone got / tried the K2 Uptown?
Need to pick up a new pair of skates and looking at the K2 midtown and the uptown
>>1911366
I have the Unnatural which is like the Uptown but without the top strap. Uptown are stiffer than the Midtown ( there is a bit of hard plastic under the skin on the Uptown that is not present in the Midtown). They perform very well (much better than USD Carbons that I had before imo, but maybe flexy skates are just not my thing).
They are comfortable to most users. Comfort has never really been an issue with these skates.
Get the Midtown if you are a beginner and save some money, get the uptown if you have experience and can utilize the benefit of a stiffer boot and frame. The uptown also comes stock with much better bearings. The material build/quality is excellent for the price, some skate that cost twice as much are not even built as well as these.
Another similar (and its only real competitor) are the Rollerblade Fusion X3, which is a hardboot and is said to also be stiff, but not as much as the uptown.
>>1891865
Way cooler than those fags on scooters.
