Why did he take fake fighting so personally?
His father tortured him into a maniac

Probably this
The hart family are like the Kennedy family of wrestling, except if the keneddys where white trash from canada.
Wrestling was very important to his dad and to his family.

Yup. If it wasn't absolutely 100% serious then all that abuse and torture meant nothing
Lance Storm said it best about Bret: "I'd rather someone take their job seriously then not"
>>1868855
it was still real to him dammit

lance storm is also an autist, and i say that in an endearing way.
Every single Canadian thinks wrestling is real
>>1868925
Typical Canadian shit for brains taking up for each other.

That explains the ovation Hogan received on 2002. Thanks to politics, they must think Hogan is real-life Superman

He has autism

Because it's an industry where a guy is built up and torn down based on personalities, Bret wasnt one for brown nosing his way into the title scene or burying people on a whim when he was active. He got to the top by having realistic matches and taking the matches seriously like they were a real fight. Hogan/Michaels etc shafted him for pure ego reasons, and gained very little for their actions except that ego boost, rather than showing superior wrestling ability.
So naturally if someone sets out to destroy you for their own personal gain and sees you as little more than a pawn in their plans, you take that shit personally.
Goldbergs kick for example, he could have pulled it and not given bret concussion and nobody would have blinked an eye. But Goldberg was such a mark for himself that he'd often work far too stiff trying to get himself over. Again, Bret was shafted him a guy's ego at huge expense for very little gain to the other guy..
