Why did this trigger the smarks so badly?
because it just confirms this era of wrestling is nothing compared to the late 90s
neo-rock fucking sucks
Because it was fucking stupid, accomplished nothing and only made everybody else look bad.
>>1852788
This. His promos are so fucking stale you could probably do Rockposting quite as well as Haitchposting at this point
>>1852793
it drew money fag
Rumble did an amazing buyrate, Wrestlemania did 4th highest ever and biggest gate record at NJ
>>1852797
Twice in a Lifetime still fell laughably short of the previous year, even with the addition of Lesnar on the card.
>>1852802
Lesnar shouldn't have been booked against Hunter for a rematch that no one wanted, and they were never beating the previous year's record. Unless you somehow think Punk would've beaten 2012.
>>1852802
>the same match twice in a row didn't draw as well
>Brock Lesnar in 2013
>drawing a fucking dime
It's like you're saying obvious things
>>1852806
Rock vs Lesnar would've been pretty close to it.
>>1852808
>Triple H defeated Brock Lesnar at WM
Historians still reflect on this event and try to decipher what the fuck they meant by this
>>1852812
HHH doing what he usually does. Win at mania and then lose at a show that fewer people have seen
>>1852812
Brock had to repay his dues since they booked him to be unbeatable after losing to John and Hunter.
Brock will probably never lose again after beating the Undertaker or they could let Goldberg beat him again.
>>1852813
>Win at mania and then lose at a show that fewer people have seen
Geniuenly thought I was the only person who noticed this. He has done this with
>Rock (but the Austin Backlash pop made it more memorable than the WM match)
>Orton
>Sheamus
>Lesnar
Sheamus was the worst one for me really. He beats him clean at Mania then at the next PPV Sheamus hits him with five brogue kicks and sends him out of action for 8 months. Can you imagine that happened at Mania? It would have been insane
>>1852846
Rock wasn't hurt by it, but:
The Orton thing basically killed Orton's chances of ever becoming a major drawing card for the company. I still can't believe how they had that buildup just for Gaytch to beat him in the most bland way possible. Orton has done nothing since then that was as big as that Mania 2009 angle, and his 2013-14 run was completely overshadowed by Gaytch yet again.
The only time Gaytch has actually done the right thing for business was losing to Batista 3 times in a row cleanly. And that was only because Dave and him were good friends
>>1852844
>or they could let Goldberg beat him again.
It's so boneheaded that modern WWE could actually do it.
>>1852858
Roman should have beaten Brock at 2014 then they should let Seth cash in
>>1852854
Orton killed his own chances of drawing long before that feud considering his #1 Contendership back in 2007 dropped ratings for RAW so low that Nielsen initially thought it had to be a glitch.
>>1852863
>Seth over huge as a babyface when heel
>Roman over huge as a heel when babyface
That would have crippled them both.
If they wanted Roman to have a hope at all they should have had Brock squash DBry at 31 for heat then carry to 32, where Roman finally beat him after middling in the midcard for a year or so.
>>1852863
nah
>>1852865
kek source?
I know Orton never drew a dime but thats overkill
>>1852868
>Roman heel
>Seth babyface
Do you even follow storylines?
>>1852868
>Lesnar being a part-time champ for a whole year+
disgoostin'
>>1852873
That's NOW, back then Roman was a babyface and Seth a Heel, and they were intent on keeping them that way.
Also, Roman's still a babyface. A fucking awful one, albeit.
>>1852874
I didn't say it would have been good television, but it would have made viewers actually want to see Roman take it.
Especially after they'd been duped into the "PAID HIS DUES" malarkey by not being hotshotted so quickly.
Well, it MIGHT have. I may be underestimating Roman's lack of drawing power.
>>1852869
Yes
It was a star-making moment and they blew it on Jasethy and waited for another year where smarks already knew that he's just a champion-in-waiting despite being in a feud with Big Show and Bray Wyatt
Then the injury bug hits them and now they're forced to push Roman because they had nobody else so HHH had to sneakily win one more title and mainevent Wrestlemania
>>1852876
Neither of them are babyfaces
Roman is a tweener
Seth is a tweener
Roman stopped being a babyface after Wrestlemania
>>1852884
Reigns has been unambiguously portrayed as straight-up babyface (or at least what Vince thinks one is like) for the entirety of the Rusev feud.
>>1852889
How is Roman a babyface for the entirety of the Rusev feud?
He interrupted Rusev, started the feud, thrown wood into the fire by offending Rusev and Lana
He also talks like a sarcastic dick especially towards smarks who boo him
Hardly babyface material but not full blown heel either
>>1852897
Did you miss the:
>(or at least what Vince thinks one is like)
...part?
>>1852884
There are no tweeners, WWE isn't that complicated.
Roman punches Heels = Face
Seth kicks Heels = Face
>>1852784
Because CM Punk, in his eternal failure to understand the wrestling business. bitched about special attraction wrestlers and his pathetic fanbase parroted his warped logic.
Do you think any of the boys in the Golden era bitched about part-timer Andre the Giant headlining Wrestlemania 3?
>>1852920
It's not your fault Punk left.
