I don't think so. I mean, the press conference numbers seemed about right. Take a look at the white house press briefing room in pic related. There's maybe a hundred people there, all media. Attendance at legitimate sporting press conferences is even lower. It would have been hilarious if they'd staged a press conference and had a thousand people there - that would have been obviously fake.

The Hardy gimmicks and vignettes are certainly a different tone, but they don't seem to be mocking wrestling. If anything, Matt's total dedication to the gimmick makes it easier to buy into kayfabe.
