On one hand, Vince could've come up with a million ways to get that title off of Bret, but he chose to make him look like a martyr in fucking Canada of all places. That alone makes it seem like a work; making himself look like an asshole to put people over is something Vince does

On the other hand, why would he do that when Bret was going to the competition? He was basically giving them free money, which is definitely NOT something Vince would like to do
