Nikki - Because it's a better story to have her come back from an injury to be the first champ. It could also be Becky, but her gimmick is that she's a good wrestler that almost never wins.

Miz - Heel champ fighting off baby faces is always a better story.

Orton - Because Bray is only ever booked as a loser. Also hoping that this is just the start of a longer feud, in which case having him win the first one isn't that bad.

Ambrose - Because I think they would rather save him losing for Survivor Series. That way AJ has the title for a few months to set up for the Cena return and eventual win.
