Came to post this.The Summer of Punk angle was a really bad idea.
It didn't draw on TV or PPV. It did lead to a brief spike in merch for Punk in the 18-34 demo, but at the expense of working the hardcore fans into thinking the promotion were mega-heels.
That fact that Punk developed a chip on his shoulder made things worse. It just wasn't worth it.
