The thing is, Austin marks (like Austin himself) are extremely insecure when their favorite wrestler isn't praised so it's fun to trigger them. It all worked out in the end though. A year later, we got a pretty good emotional (looking back at the circumstances) Austin/Rock match and Austin went out quietly like he wanted to. Also, Hogan/Rock was 100 times better than a hypothetical Hogan/Austin. Austin shouldn't have faced Scott Hall either, but imagine him selling Hogan hulking up? It would be ridiculous, Rock worked much better for that match
