I believe this wholeheartedly. Even if it's not WWE policy (which I would bet my life it is) the venue probably has a policy that their security are the only ones allowed to deal with them.

It's not identical but when I worked at a club that had live music the bands were always instructed to never touch anyone who invaded the stage or they'd never be welcome back, since the insurance doesn't cover performers, only actual staff.

Greatest barricade jumper of all time had to have been Roadblock.

This was during the days when the wrestlers would literally beat you half to death for jumping a barricade.

Mr. D'Acquisto jumped a barricade at a WCW show one day and was so massive, the wrestlers didn't even bother fucking with him. Instead they found him after security had escorted him out and asked him if he'd like to train to be a pro-wrestler. The rest is what WCW Saturday Night jobber legend dreams are made of.

Sorry, it was at a WWF house show, not WCW. He jumped the gate, chased Hogan's opponent One Man Gang around and pinned him before being arrested.

Earlier in the day, he had approached Hogan at a gym and asked him about breaking into the business only to have Hogan brush him off.

It's shameful, really. They should at least WORK the event. Like have some of the security restraining the wrestlers so that it looks like the company is scared of fans getting hurt, and maybe plant a couple of barricade jumpers to "get past" the security and get buried by talent. I mean, can you imagine some baby-faced indie guy leaping into the ring in street clothes, getting F5'd and then taken out on a stretcher while Lesnar gets "arrested"?

But of course, that idea took a couple of seconds of actual thought to come up with, so it's completely beyond the creative minds running WWE...
