He did that weird one off thing for Sami Zayn's entrance, but I'd actually love a Mr. America 2.0 situation where Sami gets banished due to Kevin Owens, and El Generico comes into wrestle.

Calling him pure shit on the mic is a little much. Dude is fine, but he is too much of the "everyman" sort of persona that they did with Daniel Bryan. Least when it comes to people like Cena, Owens, Ryder, Orton, etc.. it's all characters, people with larger than life aspects to them to some degree, yet with him, he is "I love wrestling, and I can wrestle!", which works fine, but can't really captivate. He is a solid "could be in the main event if he wants to but might never hold the belt material".

He needs to explore more of what the Sami Zayn character is.

Yeah, what he did in NXT with Neville and Cesaro in particular was good stuff, sadly it all works within the confines of what those storylines evolved into, not so much something that you can do out of the blue now.
