WWE is losing its male fanbase because they can't present the product with any legitimacy. The men still watching are either diehards or contrarians who want something to bitch about each week.

So they're left trying to appeal to the female viewer. Finn being a smaller guy makes him more appealing to women, and if he's actually gay that's probably going to help him in that demographic. By contrast, there's a tiny slice of women (plus quite a few gay and bi men) who find a handsome face on a hulking body attractive, but most of them aren't going to tune in for Roman.
