This year's SMUG Squad Milsim trip will be at Milsim West's The Caspian Gap on OCTOBER 21-23 IN PERRY, GA AT THE GUARDIAN CENTER. Faction will be Cossacks. required attire is at least a track jacket (track pants recommended) over a telnyshka. OD or Russian cammo bottoms are also acceptable if preferred. There will be a group buy from grey-shop for Mockba sneakers and any other Russian gear for anyone going, to be delivered by hand at meetup.

One carpool is coming out of Conneticut going south. The second is coming out of Milwaukee-Chicago area and will be picking up anyone flying into the Atlanta airport. These carpools will be leaving in time to get to Perry by 1200 on that Friday. The third carpool will be out of the Boston area and arrive a day earlier to stay at the hotel which will be our meetup point. Once we have everything we need, including any needed trips to local stores for food and other supplies, we'll head over to the AO,

I'm wondering why it seems that on most airsoft retailer websites the vast majority of AEG/GBB rifles are some variant of the M4/M16? I've been playing long enough that I gear up to have only the minimum needed for the length of the OP. Accordingly I like chest rigs and webbing sets over carriers. In other words I go with function over aesthetics.

The night game at Fulda Gap only goes from about 9 to 11 so I only need an extended pickup game's worth of gear, or a single fully loaded chest rig.

I've found that OD works exceptionally well at night and Desert Night, while a meme camo, is close enough to OD that it's a solid night camo as well.

I will admit that the gun is a CM037 BETA Spetz which is solidly in the beginner's tier. The only upgrade is a metal receiver which I picked up for $10 due to a pricing mistake by ASGI. However, it's stupidly reliable and reasonably accurate for a stock gun.

Stella C3bu, Sabagebu, and Aoharu X Kikanju
First captured the feeling of airsoft, but got edgy due to the director (read the manga). The second is arguably the best, but also isn't really about airsoft so it didn't appeal to me. The last was yaoibait and fairly braindead but at least got more into the mechanics of the game. So far none have been a very good all-around airsoft show though.

I mean the M14 had it's action open to the elements (which can be a problem for mud and sand), but when it comes down to it, the action is pretty robust.

The idea of the M14 was more or less "Let's make the Garand, but better" and it's better than the Garand, but by the time it got fielded "the Garand, but better" was kind of hopelessly obsolete as an infantry rifle, especially based on how they wanted to field it:
>in semi auto it would be your infantry rifle
>when set on full-auto it would try to do what a subgun would do
>put a hbarrel, bipod and VFG on it to make it an M15 LMG (like the BAR)
>put a scope on it to make it a marksman's rifle or sniper's rifle

It really only was alright for the first one, it's a terrible weapon in full-auto (even when rebuilt for it specifically), and the regular infantry variants had issues retaining their zeroes with optics. It's little surprise it was replaced by the M16 an M60 for three of those roles.
