In the space of a mere 3 years Prime Star, DirecTV, and Dish Network sold millions and millions of satellite dishes and subscriptions to the South and the Midwest from 1995 to 1998.

These people would have watched just about any wrestling company. They just love wrestling. Stone Cold just happened to be the right guy at the right place. It could have just as easily have been one of a half dozen other guys of the same generation in his place.

I remain unimpressed by wrestlers who became stars in the Attitude Era. Crowds were unironically popping for garbage like the Oddities and ICP back then.
