There was nothing GOAT about SVR 09 or 11, apart from 11's weapon physics.

SVR 09's roster was abysmal due to the overall lack of talent in the WWE at the time and it had no legends (other than some shitty DLC) thanks to LoW hogging most of them. SVR 11 was piss-easy even on the hardest difficulty and removed a bunch of moves. It pretty much just served as foundation for WWE '12.

Keep seeing Fire Pro Returns at local game store, not sure if it's the copy I traded in when I got frustrated to hell with its mechanics. I've been reading up on puroresu enough to be interested in it thematically, but I'm still not sure if a Nakamura v. Styles explosion-filled death match is enough to make up for my utter inability to learn the systems at play.

Definitely. If you need to learn how to play, emulate Fire Pro Wrestling 2 on the GBA. It has a nice tutorial mode that really helped me understand the mechanics of the FP games.
