Some of it depends on the person delivering it. I like the Pedigree by Triple H, because he's big as fuck. The smaller Rollins doing it looks silly. In that vein, a solid spear delivered by a bigger fellow (think Rhyno, BEEG is too fat and slow) is a great finisher. Edge's spear (smaller man, barely hit the other guy) was dogshit.

The Curbstomb was a better finisher than the Styles Clash in every way. It didn't require such BLATANT cooperation from the opponent, it actually looked like it would hurt, and it carried almost zero risk of injury.

Jericho's Codebreaker is a better finisher. Just some knees jammed into the opponent's face. Nice and simple, doesn't need a huge set up.

I could list a LOT of other finishers and why I think they're better, but basically, if someone is going to need SUCH a fucking contrived set up, like the Styles Clash does, it needs a more satisfying payoff than a bump that looks tamer than a vertical suplex. That the Styles Clash has a relatively high chance of severe legit injury if the slightest fuck up occurs is just icing on the turd cake.

People like it and he sticks with it because MUH INNOVATION. I'm pretty sure if I shit in my hand and threw it at my opponent, I'd have innovated that move in pro wrestling. That doesn't mean it isn't shit, literally.

It's even more annoying considering AJ is SO fucking good and has about a half dozen better finishers at his disposal. That slingshot elbow is a good one, the calf "crusher" is a good submission, and there's a bunch of other shit a man with his ability could do.
