He could have just booked it like that if he wanted to. He could have just made the legit concussion kayfabe career ending and put Enzo as a manager, hell, he could've just have Enzo show up as a manager when they got called to the main roster, something like that doesn't require a reason.

Just make Enzo a manager, you can even give him his own stable with Carmella and few others let him be a Bobby Heenana or Jimmy Hart type guy
